Battery Manufacturing Project Engineer – Controls & Network Systems

About the Opportunity

Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to support battery production line installation, commissioning, network systems integration, and manufacturing launch activities within a fast-paced advanced manufacturing environment.

This role will support production preparation from equipment procurement through startup and mass production handover while collaborating with engineering teams, construction management, vendors, technicians, and contractors to ensure successful project execution.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting capital equipment projects, manufacturing controls systems, PLC integration, MES/SCADA systems, and production launch activities within an industrial manufacturing environment.


What You’ll Be Doing
  • Participate in daily written and verbal project reporting up to Senior Manager level
  • Develop process plans for battery production lines with direct management support
  • Work in a collaborative environment alongside Engineers, Construction Management, Vendors, Technicians, and General Contractors to achieve project milestones
  • Support equipment procurement, installation planning, commissioning, pre-production trials, and launch of battery production lines
  • Participate in advanced cleanliness and clean room manufacturing protocols
  • Lead and/or support equipment trials both at vendor facilities and onsite after installation
  • Verify safety, quality, productivity, and operational targets during equipment startup activities
  • Support implementation of manufacturing network systems including:
    • Andon systems
    • Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
    • Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) connectivity
  • Support network system specifications utilizing:
    • OPC-UA
    • CC-Link
    • SQL
    • SCADA systems
  • Configure manufacturing equipment PLCs (primarily Mitsubishi) for network connectivity using:
    • SLMP
    • Ethernet TCP/IP
    • Ethernet/IP protocols
  • Support root cause analysis, punch list management, and countermeasure implementation
  • Track KPIs, support production issue resolution, and assist with mass production handover
  • Collaborate with domestic and international cross-functional teams on schedules, milestones, and open items
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules and budgets
  • Complete internal and external technical training as required

Qualifications | What You BringRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience supporting capital equipment projects from planning through mass production startup
  • Project management experience involving capital investments greater than $0.5M
  • Experience creating and maintaining detailed installation and project schedules
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings including facility and process equipment layouts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other 2D/3D drafting software
  • PLC experience with ability to read, interpret, and modify logic
  • SQL, Oracle, or other database experience
  • Experience supporting industrial machine networks and Cisco network infrastructure
  • Experience using Ignition for Andon visualization or related manufacturing tools
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
  • Flexibility to support weekends, holidays, and shutdown periods based on project schedules
