Job description

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in a large-scale ERP transformation to Oracle while improving manufacturing execution in a highly custom, low-volume environment that produces creative solutions such as pump skid packages, chiller systems, and custom commercial equipment. This role serves as a critical bridge between engineering and manufacturing, ensuring accurate product data flows from Windchill (PLM) into Apriso (MES/MOM) and aligns seamlessly with Oracle ERP. The successful candidate will apply strong manufacturing fundamentals and system integration experience to drive efficiency, quality, and process standardization across the factory.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and structure bills of materials (BOMs) in Windchill to ensure accurate release into Apriso.
  • Ensure alignment of product and process data across Windchill (PLM), Apriso (MES), and Oracle ERP systems.
  • Support the ERP transformation by mapping data, validating system integration, and identifying and resolving data and process gaps.
  • Develop method sheets, work instructions, and standardized work based on BOMs to support consistent shop floor execution.
  • Create and update manufacturing routings, cycle times, and process flows to optimize throughput and resource utilization.
  • Design workstations, flow lines, and layouts that improve efficiency, ergonomics, and product quality.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities related to throughput, weld cells, downtime reduction, and quality enhancement.
  • Lead and support root cause analysis, statistical studies, and corrective actions to address manufacturing issues.
  • Improve productivity, equipment performance, and overall manufacturing efficiency through data-driven initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance on manufacturing processes and product design issues to support engineering and production teams.
  • Maintain manufacturing standards, including process maps, tooling requirements, quality controls, and cycle times.
  • Partner with environmental health and safety (EHS) teams to ensure equipment and processes comply with OSHA requirements.
  • Support factory implementation activities related to the Oracle ERP transition, bridging engineering data and shop floor execution.
  • Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of engineers to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and processes.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including BOM management, routing, and manufacturing process design.
  • Hands-on manufacturing engineering experience in a low-volume, highly customized production environment.
  • ERP system experience, including participation in implementation, integration, or optimization projects.
  • PLM system experience, with direct experience in Windchill strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Apriso or similar MES/MOM systems for managing shop floor execution.
  • Proficiency in Creo or similar CAD tools for supporting product and process design.
  • Strong aptitude for mechanical and electrical applications as they relate to equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience managing or supporting an ERP conversion, ideally involving Oracle ERP.
  • Demonstrated ability to bridge engineering data with shop floor execution and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience in project management, including planning, coordination, and execution of manufacturing or system integration projects.
  • Experience in process automation within manufacturing environments.
  • HVAC industry experience or exposure to HVAC-related products and systems.
  • Ability to conduct root cause analysis and statistical studies to support corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering, operations, and EHS teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is preferred; candidates without a four-year degree are encouraged to apply if they bring strong practical experience and relevant skills.
  • Experience with Windchill PLM for BOM structuring and product data management.
  • Experience with Apriso MES for managing manufacturing execution and data flow.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar tools for layout and workstation design.
  • Experience with Creo for product and component modeling.
  • Demonstrated success in process automation initiatives within a manufacturing environment.
  • Project management experience, including leading or supporting cross-functional initiatives.
  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, pump skid packages, chiller systems, or custom commercial equipment manufacturing.
  • Experience participating in or leading Oracle ERP implementation or conversion projects.
  • Comfort working in highly customized, low-volume production settings (1–10 piece builds).
  • Ability to develop clear work instructions, method sheets, and standardized work documentation.
  • Commitment to safety and experience collaborating with EHS on OSHA-compliant processes and equipment.

Work Environment

This role is fully on-site, working standard hours from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in a factory environment focused on highly customized, low-volume builds such as pump skid packages, chiller systems, and custom commercial equipment. You will work alongside a team of approximately 12 engineers, primarily electrical and mechanical, in a collaborative setting that emphasizes cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement. The position is directly responsible for factory implementation activities related to the Oracle ERP transformation, engaging closely with shop floor personnel and engineering teams. The environment combines office-based engineering work with regular presence on the manufacturing floor, using technologies such as Windchill (PLM), Apriso (MES/MOM), Oracle ERP, AutoCAD, and Creo to support product and process design, data integration, and execution. The culture values practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with leadership principles, and offers opportunities for role extension or conversion beyond the initial engagement based on performance and business needs.
