Job description

LOCAL & GLOBAL DIRECTOR

Full/Part time status: TBD


The role of the Local & Global Director is to oversee all elements of local and global outreach for Heights Church under the direction and leadership of the Lead Pastor. This will require a comprehensive grasp of the Mission, Vision, Values and Beliefs, of Heights Church and the ability to align staff, leadership teams, and serve team with its Mission, Vision, Values and Culture. The Director will provide vision and direction for our Local & Global ministry, ranging from, but not limited to: foster care events, short-term mission trips, missionary support and partnerships, Veterans dinner, local initiatives and community engagement.


The Director will be responsible for:

1. Modeling Biblical Priorities


Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Heights Church. The Director should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. The Director models a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable). The Director strives to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships and actions.

These objectives are accomplished by:

  • Committing to a daily quiet-time with God
  • Participating in a Heights Church Life Group on a regular basis
  • Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity
  • Adhering to and encompassing the qualities and characteristics required of Heights Church employees, as defined by the Heights Church Culture Guide


2. Ministry Planning


Responsible for all details related to the planning and execution of dynamic programs including, but not limited to, local and global partnerships, local and global care, budget oversight, foster care partnerships and local initiatives. This is accomplished by:

  • Leading regular evaluations and review sessions to maintain a level of excellence and monitoring the impact of ministry
  • Provide Leadership in vision casting and goal setting for each area of the Local and Global ministry
  • Build systems and structures to lead people from being attenders to serve members
  • Facilitate board meetings for both local and global boards.
  • Oversee and plan the budget for each area of local and global ministry with input given from each board.

3. Local Ministry


Responsible for overseeing, managing, leading, and shepherding the Local budget, staff and serve. This is accomplished by:

  • Oversee, support and develop Local staff team members
  • Oversee the training and development of the local serve team
  • Empower and instruct team members to recruit serve team to serve for weekday/weekend ministry events and church wide events
  • Regularly connect with and shepherd serve team members
  • Maintain a strong network of relevant Professionals Partners and/or resources
  • Plan, develop and execute Advent events each week utilizing our Local initiatives and partnerships.
  • First point of contact for any incoming local partnership requests
  • Oversight of local and global partnerships/partnership plans
    • Terms of the partnership (Why, when, financial etc.)
  • Oversight of Initiatives and Initiative Leaders
    • Local initiatives: Food, Finance, Families for Kids, Neighbors
  • Community liaison
    • Sit in spaces that build our influence with the community in a positive light that will lead the way to be a resource to the community, if/when a need arises.
  • Oversee, manage and adhere to local budget, including but not limited to scholarships. All in with coordination with the Finance office and other ministries, if applicable.

4. Global Ministry


Responsible for overseeing, leading, managing and shepherding the global budget, staff and serve team. This is accomplished by:

  • Maintain a strong network of relevant Professional Partners
  • Maintain schedules for Missionary partners to attend during Global Month (October)
  • Plan a minimum of 6 months in advance short term mission trips
  • Regularly connect with missionary partners
  • Review missionary partnerships each year for continued support or adjustments, as needed.
  • Identify, recruit, train, and care for short term mission trip global leaders with the assistance of the global assistant
  • Plan, organize and host Global events
  • Oversee, manage and adhere to global budget, including but not limited to scholarships. All in with coordination with the Finance office and global board.

5. Staff & Serve Team Supervision and Development


Responsible for providing leadership to the Local & Global ministry. The Director leads, evaluates and mentors existing local and global staff, board members, serve team and prioritizes future ministry staff and/or serve team needs. Includes the following responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Local and Global ministry in day-to-day operational activities
  • Oversee the training and development of the staff and serve team
  • Recruit and empowering serve team to serve for scheduled ministry programs
  • Maintain a strong network of relevant professionals and resources
  • Develop ministry partnerships with outside professionals that share Heights Church's commitment to excellence


6. Local & Global Administrative Tasks


Responsible for overseeing and executing the administrative tasks to create a smooth operating ministry. This is accomplished by:

  • Working with the ministries to ensure program and initiatives within the local and global ministry are communicated and available to our church family and community.
  • Organize travel for local and global trips and/or conferences
  • Manage Local & Global budget
    • Submit receipts to Finance Department
  • Available for all Crisis calls on and off schedule (including, but not limited to, Community wide emergencies)
  • Request registrations and advertising from Communications.
  • Order Supplies
    • Order and Maintain equipment/supplies for this ministry.
  • Connect with Leaders and make sure they have what the need
  • Serve Team appreciation and thank you notes
