Educational Foundations is accepting applications for Temporary, Part-time Instructor responsible for teaching courses with students in the enrolled in pre-service teacher education programs, and/or students enrolled in MEd and post-masters' programs in the Department of Educational Foundations.
The purpose of this posting is to generate a pool of qualified faculty. Applications submitted will be reviewed on an as needed basis based on enrollment. Anyone meeting the qualifications may be contacted for an interview and potentially hired when a need exists. In the event that you are interviewed but not immediately hired, your application will remain in the departments pool of qualified faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities
TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:Teach undergraduate pre-service education students in educational foundations, educational psychology, or educational technology. Additionally, candidates may be asked to teach courses in educational leadership, educational foundations, educational psychology, or educational technology at the graduate and post-masters' level. Additional responsibilities include ongoing professional/scholarly activity and service to the department and university commensurate with the assignment.
  • Teach a three-credit course for the undergraduate teacher and graduate degree programs.

Part-time faculty members shall maintain a prorated number of office hours each week, at a minimum of twenty-five (25) minutes for each workload hour taught, at such days, times and locations as will accommodate the needs of the students.
This position may requires in-person, blended or remote instruction. This position is contingent upon sufficient enrollments in assigned classes.

CONTINUING SCHOLARLY GROWTH AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT and SERVICE TO THE UNIVERSITY AND/OR COMMUNITY:Adjuncts are encouraged to be engaged in an ongoing process of scholarly development to ensure the currency of their instruction. They are encouraged to make the results of scholarly activity available for the public and critical peer review. This could be evidenced by presenting papers at scholarly or public conferences; publishing books or articles in academic, popular, or educational journals; attending and holding membership or office in local, regional, national, or international scholarly associations; seeking and obtaining grants or fellowships; serving on juries, panels, or review boards of grant-giving institutions; consulting as a scholarly advisor for public or educational programs or organizations, including schools.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:Other reasonable duties assigned within the faculty member's field of competence.
PERFORMANCE REVIEW / EVALUATIONS:Ongoing evaluation, including annual peer review; classroom observations by one department faculty member per semester, and one classroom observation per year by the department chair; and student evaluations. The results of these observations and evaluations are kept on file to serve as part of the record for renewal or reappointment.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Educational Foundations (EDFN) Department is comprised of 10 full-time faculty members and 1 support staff. EDFN is the education home to secondary BSE majors. We believe strongly that teachers must both know the subjects they teach and how to teach them to students. Because of this belief, we value our partnership with liberal arts departments in providing education courses, field experience, and co-advisors for our undergraduate secondary education students. This partnership also includes content specific preparation in Social Studies, English, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math and Technology Education. EDFN also houses two MEd programs in Leadership for Teaching and Learning (LDTL) and Assessment, Curriculum, and Teaching (ACTE). Finally, in 2015, EDFN created the first doctoral program at Millersville, in partnership with Shippensburg University. The EdD program in Educational Leadership continues to matriculate a new cohort of students each year.
Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Educational Foundations, Educational Psychology, Educational Leadership, or related discipline.
  • Ability to conduct classes through multifaceted teaching strategies for face-to-face classroom delivery and/or web-enhanced or web-based formats
  • Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and working with diverse student populations.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful teaching demonstration.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree (ABD with doctorate required by the date of appointment) in Educational Foundations, Psychology, Leadership, Curriculum and Instruction or related discipline.
  • Teaching and or Leadership positions held in public schools.

  • Use computer for email, obtain information on websites, prepare class documents, grade papers, submit final grades online and other duties related to teaching and advising students and serving the department, college, university and community.
