Step into a high-impact sales role where relationships, creativity, and an entrepreneurial mindset can drive meaningful results. Hearst Magazines is seeking a highly motivated Temporary Sales Director to provide maternity coverage for our East Coast territory, managing and growing a key portfolio of retail accounts while uncovering new business opportunities.
About Hearst Magazines (Why Us?)
Hearst Magazines' portfolio of more than 30 iconic brands in the U.S. inspires and entertains audiences across all media platforms. We are a global media company that publishes nearly 200 magazine editions and 175 websites around the world-and together, we are shaping what's next.
Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)
  • Manage the day-to-day business and relationships across the full territory account list, with a primary focus on assigned retail accounts.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts throughout the maternity coverage period, ensuring continuity and a high level of service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key account contacts, developing a deep understanding of their priorities, needs, and business objectives.
  • Identify account needs and proactively deliver solutions, information, and support that strengthen partnerships and uncover opportunities for growth.
  • Drive new business development by prospecting for new accounts and opportunities across the territory and building relationships with prospective clients.
  • Maintain a consistent pipeline of prospective accounts and outreach activity while proactively advancing opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage pre- and post-sale execution and deliver effective programs across digital, social, programmatic, co-branded content, and other relevant platforms.
  • Communicate accurately and promptly with clients and internal stakeholders while effectively managing multiple accounts, priorities, and deadlines.

Qualifications (What We're Looking For)
  • 7+ years of relevant sales, business development, or account management experience, preferably within media, advertising, or the retail category, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of digital, social, programmatic, and co-branded content, with familiarity with affiliate marketing.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted client relationships and identify opportunities to grow existing and new business.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial sales mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership of results.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple accounts, priorities, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the territory as needed for client meetings and appointments.
  • This role is based in our New York City office and requires in-office presence four days per week.

The hourly rate for this role is $75 per hour. This position is not eligible for bonus or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
