Job Summary/Basic Function
The Department of Special Education is accepting applications for temporary part-time instructors to teach special education coursework and/or supervise student teachers. The Special Education Department at times needs temporary part-time Instructors to fill in for faculty on sabbaticals or leaves.
Temporary, part-time instructor responsible for teaching coursework and/or supervising student teachers on an as-needed basis.
The purpose of this posting is to generate a pool of qualified faculty. Applications submitted will be reviewed on an as needed basis based on enrollment. Anyone meeting the qualifications may be contacted for an interview and potentially hired when a need exists. In the event that you are interviewed but not immediately hired, your application will remain in the departments pool of qualified faculty.
A complete application will include:
  • Cover letter describing qualifications for the position.
  • Current curriculum vitae or professional resume.
  • Copies of registrar-issued transcripts for all degrees conferred and in progress.
  • Two letters of professional reference dated within the last 12 months.

  • Master's Degree in Special Education or related discipline.
  • 3 years full-time teaching experience.
  • Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful teaching demonstration for class teaching assignments.
  • Successful completion of three background checks.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD or ABD in Special Education or related discipline.
  • Supervisory or Administrative experience in special education in the public school setting.
  • Prior college-level teaching experience.
