Temporary Metadata Analyst information

What are Temporary Metadata Analysts?

Temporary Metadata Analysts are professionals hired for a limited period to organize, manage, and improve metadata within an organization’s information systems. They typically work on short-term projects that involve cataloging, tagging, and ensuring the accuracy of data descriptors to facilitate easier data retrieval and compliance. This role is crucial in libraries, archives, museums, and digital content companies where data organization is essential. Temporary positions may last from a few weeks to several months, depending on the scope of the project.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Temporary Metadata Analyst, and why are they important?

To excel as a Temporary Metadata Analyst, you typically need a background in information science, data management, or library science, along with experience in metadata standards and schema. Familiarity with metadata management tools, cataloging systems, and data entry software is important, as well as knowledge of standards like Dublin Core or MARC. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and strong organizational skills help set candidates apart in this role. These competencies ensure accurate data organization, efficient retrieval, and support the quality of digital asset management processes.

What are some common challenges faced by Temporary Metadata Analysts and how can they be addressed?

Temporary Metadata Analysts often encounter challenges such as quickly familiarizing themselves with complex data management systems and adhering to strict project deadlines. Since the role is contract-based, analysts must rapidly adapt to new workflows and organizational standards, which may differ from previous experiences. Collaboration with permanent team members and clear communication can help overcome these challenges, as well as proactively seeking clarification on metadata standards and documentation early in the assignment.

PHM is the leading health media agency in the US, built for the modern healthcare experience. Here, industry depth meets media scale, where data becomes direction, where creativity and storytelling bring truth to life, and where orchestration replaces fragmentation.
Dedicated to making brands discovered, PHM redefines what media can do through data, content, and creativity. Because in modern healthcare, the brands that are found are the ones that lead. And when brands lead, advantage follows. Go deeper. Be found.
Job Description
As a key member of the Data Enablement team, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and supporting high-impact data products, visualizations, and automation solutions for internal and external stakeholders. These solutions and initiatives include dashboard visualization and reporting development; data warehouse solution design and development; and data ingestion, cleaning, quality assessment, and delivery. You'll serve as the primary owner of MCI (Datorama) on key pharmaceutical accounts, helping turn complex data into actionable insights that drive real results.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the day-to-day lead for MCI (Datorama) dashboards and reporting solutions
  • Oversee the development of automated data pipelines and dashboards built in MCI (Datorama) and Tableau
  • Manage data pipelines from ingestion through delivery using SQL and/or Python
  • Partner with internal teams (Business Intelligence, Engineering, Media Activation) to support and evolve data products
  • Proactively track and resolve issues related to data quality, reporting, and automation
  • Maintain and optimize data processes, including ETL pipelines, data harmonization, and metadata management
  • Work within Agile methodology using Jira to manage project work and sprint priorities

Qualifications
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with MCI (Datorama)
  • Strong technical skills in SQL and/or Python, with working knowledge of Databricks or Snowflake

  • Strong communication skills, and the ability to work directly with stakeholders and communicate insights clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Strong organizational, time management, and task prioritization skills
  • Experience working in or with cross-functional, Agile teams
  • Attention to detail and a passion for building clean, usable, and scalable solutions

Preferred but not required:
  • Experience with data visualization in Tableau
  • Background in digital marketing data and/or pharmaceutical data
  • Experience defining or improving BI best practices, governance, or data quality standards, or a background that includes working in a BI or Analyst role yourself
