Salary: GIS Analyst I (PG-112) Base salary $45,801.60 GIS Analyst II (PG-113) Base salary $49,462.40 Starting salary commensurate with selected candidate's competencies and qualifications.

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst assists in the operation and maintenance of the District's Geographic Information System. This position also provides professional GIS knowledge and skills for the design, editing, execution, and spatial analysis for GIS projects and methodologies in a problem-solving environment along with automation, feature data and attribute editing and maintenance, and cartography.

Job Duties Include:

GIS Analyst I

  • Perform GIS spatial analysis, data management, data editing, and data quality control for District and enterprise dataset.
  • Assist and train staff on the use of GIS software, data, analysis, processing, products, and application/solution development; present GIS data and analysis for District projects.
  • Develop and deploy web-based mapping, data services, and mobile applications.
  • Assist in project workshops by conducting live interactive presentations of GIS data and analysis to staff and management.
  • Design and develop spatial applications and automation to help meet the needs of the District.
  • Assist GIS Program Manager with tasks and serve as back-up for manager.
  • Support distribution of district GIS data to the public.
  • Research and develop new GIS technology.
  • Research, evaluate, and procure specialized GIS software.
  • Perform field work including GPS/Mobile data collection, testing, and quality control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


GIS Analyst II:

In addition to the GIS Analyst I duties:

  • The Analyst II should have demonstrated mastery of GIS and have the ability to troubleshoot GIS issues and solve them.
  • Computes adjustments, performs closures and area calculations for parcel legal descriptions and correlates locations of boundary lines.
  • Utilize advanced editing skills and the possess the ability to perform complex, often multi-step analysis for year-end reports and at the request of executive staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

GIS Analyst I:

  • Associates degree and a minimum of two (2) years of work-related experience or Bachelors or degree and one (1) year of related experience or Masters degree. BS in related field with two (2) years related experience or MS in related field with one (1) year related experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in geographic information system analysis and cartographic design, using ArcGIS Pro or equivalent software.
  • Professional experience in GIS, cartography, surveying, project management, GIS application development including database design, or other GIS applications can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • GISP certification preferred.
  • Valid drivers license.

GIS Analyst II:

  • Bachelors degree and a minimum of two (2) years of work-related experience or Masters degree and one (1) year of related experience. BS in related field with three (3) years related experience or MS in related field with two (2) years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in geographic information system analysis and cartographic design using ArcGIS Pro or equivalent software.
  • Professional experience in GIS, cartography, surveying, project management, GIS application development including database design, or other GIS applications can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • GISP certification preferred.
  • Valid drivers license.
