Overview:
Title: Associate Technical Metadata Analyst
Work Location: DFW Airport Headquarters, 2400 Aviation Dr, Euless, TX 75261 (on-site)
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm
Contract: 6+ months.
Job Description:
We are seeking an Associate Technical Metadata Analyst (Junior level position) to support the continued growth of DFW's Data & AI Program and ensure that critical metadata activities are completed consistently across active projects. The Associate Technical Metadata Analyst will support metadata documentation, data definitions, data classifications, and AI semantic layer readiness across multiple active projects. These activities require additional capacity now to prevent delays in project delivery, data catalog maturity, and AI/semantic model implementation. As more DFW projects move into Snowflake, semantic views, Cortex Analyst, and AI-enabled use cases, the need for accurate metadata is increasing. Business users and AI agents depend on clear definitions, approved metrics, proper classifications, and well-documented data relationships to provide reliable answers.
Required Experience (1+ years):
  • Familiarity with data warehousing and data architecture principles.
  • Basic proficiency in SQL and other data querying languages. Ability to read table/view structures.
  • Basic understanding of metadata concepts and best practices in a data warehousing environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate basic metadata concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Foundational skills in analyzing and interpreting datasets to support metadata definitions.
  • Familiarity with data governance and catalog tools, such as Informatica CDGC, Collibra, etc., through coursework or internships.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or cloud data platforms.
  • Understanding of data classification concepts, including sensitive, confidential, restricted, and business-critical data.

Other Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Reliable transportation and possession of a valid class C driver's license

Responsibilities:
  • Assist with documenting data definitions, maintaining business and technical metadata, supporting data classification efforts, and helping ensure that data assets are understandable, searchable, and properly governed.
  • Assist in defining and standardizing metadata descriptions for columns, tables, and systems, ensuring consistency and clarity across the Data Lakehouse.
  • Help collect column descriptions from various sources, including documents, web pages, and AI tools, and ensures their accurate integration into our metadata definition process.
  • Support the review and update of existing metadata to align with organizational standards and requirements.
  • Contribute to the strategic prioritization of metadata updates to enhance the usability and comprehensibility of the Data Lakehouse for end users.
  • Liias with ITS and system vendors to obtain data dictionaries and align their definitions with internal standards.
  • Query and analyze data within the Data Lakehouse to develop accurate and relevant metadata definitions.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Catalog Manager to ensure that metadata management aligns with broader data governance and quality initiatives.
  • Provide support to data owners and stewards in understanding and using metadata effectively.
  • Receive and incorporates feedback from data owners and stewards to adjust metadata definitions, ensuring alignment with user needs and perspectives.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in metadata management and data governance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Airport Special Requirements:
  • Must obtain an Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a badge upon each badge renewal.
