Job description

Position Summary
The Temporary Marketing Associate at GSGLA will serve designated departments in the Marketing & Communications Department and coordinate, communicate, create, and execute collateral and assets for dynamic and comprehensive marketing and communications campaigns. The Temporary Marketing Associate is a full-time employee of the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles (GSGLA) and reports to the Senior Manager of Marketing and Communications, working closely with all members of the Marketing Communications team. The position will be responsible for the production of assets - digital, traditional, copy, design and editing - for assigned departments.
In collaboration with the marketing and communications team, this function includes but is not limited to the following: influencing and brainstorming ideas for marketing campaigns, cross-departmental collaboration to build, communicate, and report on campaigns, market research, and continued education in marketing trends and emerging marketing channels.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Graphic design using Canva and Adobe creative suite.
  • Social media content creation and management.
  • Copy writing for emails, executive correspondence, and social media platforms.
  • Experience with email marketing systems (i.e., familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud is not required, but will use tools such as Mailchimp or similar to create, design, and send email campaigns).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and willing to thrive in an ever-changing/fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to spend time sitting, utilizing the computer, and standing and walking throughout the facilities and/or event spaces.
  • Ability to travel via personal vehicle or public transportation to various facilities throughout the region.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodically.
  • Flexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or events.
  • Able to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of themself or others.

Recommended Education, Training and Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated, progressive experience in marketing including at least three (3) of the following areas of experience: digital/social media content creation and management, writing, video editing and production, graphic design.
  • Experience in Canva.
  • Experience using Adobe creative suite.
  • Social media content creation and management experience.
  • General writing and editing support such as social media posts, website updates, copy editing, Council communications, and collateral etc.

GSGLA Employee Requirements
  • Comply with state-mandated reporter training.
  • Attend GSGLA signature events and/or other activities as assigned.
  • Must successfully complete a live scan and background check.
