Description
Responsible for performing a variety of law enforcement and public service duties in a diverse environment.
Duties
The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in positions allocated to this classification. The absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment of the position
1. Patrols assigned area checking for crimes, prowlers, fires or other unusual, suspicious, or hazardous occurrences
2. Notifies supervisor and/or proper authorities of unusual, suspicious, or hazardous events
3. Regulates pedestrian and vehicular traffic; investigates traffic accidents and completes appropriate reports; issues citations for traffic law violations; and assists with regulation of parking
4. Provides security for special college events
5. Apprehends, arrests, and files charges on suspects when appropriate
6. Testifies in court or at administrative hearings concerning violations and offenses
7. Provides escort for bank deposits or money transfers within the college
8. Completes oral and written or computerized reports related to department activities
9. Provides emergency services and temporary first aid treatment as required
10. Investigates incidents that are violations of the law, college's rules, or the Student Code of Conduct, or that may be of interest to the college
11. Provides motorist assists, escorts, or other non-emergency services as directed
12. Performs related duties as directed.
13.Supports the College mission implicitly and explicitly in the daily execution of all duties and responsibilities
14. Actively participates in maintaining an effective and continuous recruiting program
15. Participates in Institutional Effectiveness activities
16. Represents the College in a professional manner as evidenced by dress, demeanor and the discharge of daily responsibilities
17. Fulfills other duties as assigned by the President and/or supervisor
Qualifications and Required Documents
Education: State of Mississippi Law Enforcement Certification
Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Work Experience: Documented experience in a comparable/related position
Other Qualifications: First-Aid/CPR/AED certification, Completion of FEMA appropriate courses
