Temporary Buyer – Manufacturing & Supply Chain


Location: Whippany, NJ

Type: Temporary (3 Months – Potential for Hire)

Hours: Mon – Fri, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay Rate: $35.00 – $38.00 / hour


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Temp Buyer to support our active production schedules and material procurement. In this Temp Buyer position, we welcome purchasing talent from manufacturing, industrial products, automotive, medical device, or aerospace backgrounds.


Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement & Sourcing: As a Temp Buyer, you will purchase raw materials, components, and specialized services to keep production running smoothly.
  • PO Management & Tracking: Issue accurate purchase orders, track order statuses, and expedite shipments to prevent material shortages.
  • Vendor Management: Solicit quotes, negotiate pricing and terms, and monitor supplier delivery performance.
  • Inventory & Planning: Work within MRP/ERP systems to balance material availability with inventory targets.
  • Problem Solving: Partner with Quality, Engineering, and Finance to resolve order discrepancies or non-conformance issues.


Qualifications

  • 1–3+ years of purchasing experience, ideally working as a Temp Buyer, Buyer, or Procurement Specialist in manufacturing.
  • Hands-on proficiency with MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and detail-oriented organization skills.
  • Ability to review technical specifications and supplier quotes.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
