Responsibilities- Manages all purchasing and inventory support activities for assigned branch locations, including daily order reviews, contract-compliant purchasing, inventory availability management, and timely procurement through approved suppliers and GPO contracts
- Reviews and executes daily purchasing activities to maintain appropriate inventory levels, support patient care requirements, minimize stockouts, and ensure compliance with contractual purchasing obligations and company purchasing strategies
- Serves as the primary procurement contact for assigned branches by managing the Procurement Help Desk, resolving product shortages, sourcing requests, backorders, freight delays, and other supply chain issues to ensure continuity of patient care
- Monitors regional inventory levels and utilization trends to proactively prevent clinical stockouts, optimize inventory investment, and coordinate Inter-Site Transfers (ISTs) of slow-moving or high-cost medications to reduce waste and minimize product expiration
- Processes, investigates, and tracks vendor and wholesaler claims related to shortages, mispicks, damaged shipments, temperature excursions, and other distribution discrepancies, ensuring timely resolution and recovery of credits
- Coordinates and facilitates Inter-Site Transfers (ISTs) of slow-moving, shot-dated, high-cost, and critical medications to maximize inventory utilization, reduce product expiration and waste, and support continuity of patient care
- Supports branch inventory management, receiving, cycle count, and product handling processes by providing training, guidance, best practices, and ongoing operational support to branch personnel
- Collaborates with Pharmacy Operations, Clinical Services, Branch Leadership, Finance, and Distribution partners to identify supply chain risks, implement corrective actions, and develop sustainable inventory management solutions
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures, supplier agreements, GPO contracts, 340B program requirements, accreditation standards, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmaceutical procurement and inventory management
- Participates in departmental initiatives, system enhancements, process improvement projects, supplier transitions, and inventory reduction programs designed to improve operational efficiency and strengthen supply chain performance
- Performs additional duties and special projects as assigned in support of procurement, inventory management, and broader organizational goals
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of pharmacy operations and healthcare industry practices
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical procurement, inventory management, demand planning, and healthcare supply chain operations, with a demonstrated ability to balance product availability, inventory investment, and patient care requirements
- Comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical distribution channels, wholesaler operations, manufacturer relationships, contract purchasing, and Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) agreements
- Familiarity with infusion therapies, specialty pharmaceuticals, biologics, injectable medications, and high-cost therapies, including associated inventory management challenges and regulatory considerations
- Experience managing supplier and wholesaler relationships, including product sourcing, shortage mitigation, allocation management, escalation resolution, and vendor performance monitoring
- Working knowledge of inventory control methodologies, including replenishment planning, inventory optimization, cycle counts, stock rotation, inventory adjustments, product expiration management, and waste reduction strategies
- Understanding of healthcare procurement best practices, pharmacy operations, reimbursement considerations, 340B program requirements, and applicable regulatory standards governing pharmaceutical purchasing and inventory management
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in pharmaceutical purchasing, pharmacy inventory management, healthcare procurement, supply chain operations, or a related field preferred
- Experience with CPR+ patient management system preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, including the ability to analyze large data sets, create reports, and identify trends to support operational decision-making
- Ability to interpret and analyze purchasing metrics, inventory utilization data, contract compliance reports, and operational performance indicators to identify risks, opportunities, and process improvements
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex supply chain challenges, identify root causes, and implement effective, data-driven solutions
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple branch locations simultaneously, and consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service and communication skills
