Job description

Temporary Maintenance Assistant (Monday through Friday 9a-5p)

Summary:

The primary role of the Maintenance Assistant is to maintain the facility grounds, and building in a safe and efficient manner. This position will also repair faulty and broken equipment.  The role also requires on-call duties.

Responsibilities: 

  • Does snow removal and sanding.

  • Maintains interior and exterior walls, steps, porches, floors and ceilings throughout facility including patching and painting.

  • Does repair work on wheelchairs, beds, furniture, dryers, air conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers, floors, and ceilings.

  • Maintains and cleans all roof top fans and gutters.

  • Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment.

  • Performs basic electrical tasks such as replacing outlets, light fixtures, light switches, and ballast's.

  • Performs basic plumbing tasks such as replacing faucets, faucet washers, wax rings for toilets, and repairing waste lines.

  • Maintains, cleans and stores all hand and power tools.

  • Must be on emergency call or as a needed basis.

  • Strip/wax/buff floors and related tasks.

  • Moves equipment and furniture.

  • Follows all established safety procedures/ precautions when operating tools and equipment.

  • All other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year experience in maintenance work, required. 

  • Must be able to complete multiple tasks and projects and work with all disciplines in a challenging multi-cultural environment.

  • Must be organized, energetic, and motivated.

  • Must possess good written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be able to speak and write the English language.
