Dispatcher
Automation Personnel Services is looking for a reliable and motivated Dispatcher for a company based in Southwest Houston, Texas. Responsible for performing logistics functions that may include reviewing, preparing and routing shipments, coordinating drivers, work crews, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to schedules or customer requests.
 
Pay Rate 
$19.00 to $21.00 an hour
 
Schedule and Hours  
Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm 
 
Dispatcher Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for calculating routes and times of deliveries and making the necessary adjustments for sales and customers
• Establish delivery routes which are cost effective and compliant with Federal DOT guidelines while still maintaining an acceptable level of customer service, quality and satisfaction
• Ensuring the safe and timely pick-up and delivery of shipments
• Scheduling and dispatching drivers, work crews, vehicles or equipment to appropriate locations according to schedules
• Relaying information such as work orders or other messages to and from work crews or supervisors
• Using telephones, two-way radios or outlook email to contact employees
• Speaking with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, requests for services or equipment
• Preparing daily work such as schedules
• Preparing work orders for crew or receiving work orders from work crews
• Being in charge of communications within company assigned territories
• Keeping and organizing work requests, customer requests, completed work requests, charges for work performed, expenses for services performed, inventory records and other information.
 
Dispatcher Qualifications and Requirements
• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience operating a heavy-duty forklift 
• Excellent communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software
• Excellent clerical and organizational skills to keep track of schedules, routes and personnel
• Knowledge of computers for scheduling and other dispatching duties
• Ability to multitask with different events happening at the same time
• Ability to work under stress and remain calm
• Ability to relay information in a fast-paced environment
• 2 – 5 years’ experience working with LTL Freight carriers
