Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages Delivery and/or Shuttle Operations and ensures routes and deliveries are accurately executed.
  • Travels to drop yards in assigned areas and meet with contractors with potential day trips and overnight visits. Provides recaps on the visit details.
  • Reviews routes and linehaul assignments.
  • Monitors all deliveries and routes in Dispatch Track/Motive from start to finish.
  • Works closely with other transportation managers, ensuring routes and deliveries are accurately executed.
  • Ensures safety procedures are met or exceeded by inspecting equipment, logs, DVIR’s, and Hours of Service records.
  • Manages and monitors performance metrics- including survey, HOS, safety scores and Dispatch Track.
  • Partners directly with Independent Contractors.
  • Interacts heavily with Store Management, Customer Care and other departments within client’s operations daily.
  • Works with all levels of management to build a positive work environment and improve team morale.
  • Recruits, motivates and retains a team of hourly associates.
  • Holds direct reports accountable for individual and team performance. Completes disciplinary actions and performance evaluations.
  • Performs other duties as required.

What we require:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience including supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with all levels within the organization, with agencies and vendors.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple priorities, meet demanding deadlines and adjust to sudden changes in workflow.
  • Must be computer literate including use of E-mail and Microsoft applications including Excel and Word; Ability to learn new systems as needed.
  • Detail oriented, flexible with continuous process/system change with an ability to handle a high pressure, deadline heavy environment.
  • Ability to work extended hours may be required to meet deadlines, handle unusual workloads or to accomplish organizational priorities
  • Ability to work in different environments such as offices, cross dock, warehouse and/or yard with no building.
  • Ability to Travel up to 25%.
