Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Logistics Coordinator to join a growing transportation team in a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for someone with a background in logistics, transportation, dispatch, or customer service who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving problems while keeping operations running smoothly.
The Logistics Coordinator will support daily fleet operations by maintaining transportation systems, monitoring driver activity, coordinating with transportation managers, tracking routes, assisting with payroll and compliance, and providing exceptional customer service. This individual will play a key role in ensuring efficient transportation operations while maintaining accurate records and supporting continuous process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor transportation operating systems and validate electronic driver logs.
- Maintain transportation data, including equipment, driver information, delivery schedules, and customer records.
- Track and monitor dispatched routes to ensure timely deliveries and compliance.
- Produce weekly and monthly transportation and fleet performance reports.
- Support routing and transportation planning using fleet management systems.
- Respond to customer inquiries via phone and internal message boards with professionalism and urgency.
- Partner with Transportation Managers to resolve customer service and operational issues.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with outside vendors.
- Maintain accurate, real-time records of fleet equipment, including tractors and trailers.
- Assist with driver payroll and transportation-related data entry.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce transportation costs.
- Perform additional administrative and logistics-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; logistics or supply chain degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience; transportation or logistics experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in dispatch, fleet coordination, warehouse, or distribution environments preferred.
- Knowledge of driver Hours of Service (HOS), routing, dispatch, and DOT regulations.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience entering payroll or managing transportation data is a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
