Job description

Job Title: Forklift OperatorJob Description

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts to transport lumber products throughout the facility and performing a variety of material handling tasks, including loading, unloading, staging, and pulling orders. This role also involves preparing products through banding, wrapping, labeling, and taping materials while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient work area. Success in this position requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, reliable time management, and a commitment to providing high-quality customer service by completing all assigned tasks accurately and on schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Safely operate sit-down forklifts to move lumber products throughout the facility.
  • Perform general labor and material handling tasks, including picking, packing, loading, unloading, and staging orders.
  • Use pallet jacks and other material handling equipment to transport products as needed.
  • Pull customer orders accurately and ensure materials are properly prepared for shipment.
  • Complete product preparation tasks such as banding, wrapping, labeling, and taping materials.
  • Work with a computer-automated system to measure and process lumber products accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment in all assigned areas.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and handling materials.
  • Support inventory-related activities by handling and organizing materials correctly.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production and shipping schedules.
  • Perform minimal outdoor work to load and unload trucks and then bring materials indoors.
  • Adapt to changing production needs and complete additional tasks as required.
Essential Skills
  • Prior forklift operating experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

The work is physically active, including lifting up to 75 lbs and standing or moving for most of the shift. Additional hours may be required depending on production needs for the week, and attire should be suitable for warehouse work and variable temperatures, including time spent outdoors when loading and unloading materials.
