Job description

Primary Purpose We are offering summer work opportunities to our SWOCC College students in Campus housing, high school students, and any other interested individuals who are looking to gain employment experience and build their resumes. This position is tasked with performing various maintenance and groudskeeping duties in the Student Housing complex during the summer break period as assigned by Director or Team Lead. This is a temporary position from approximately 6/15/2026 through 9/30/2026.

Hours may vary with an average of approximately 32 hours per week. This position is limited to 520 hours in the fiscal year. Opened until filled.

Description of Essential Functions Maintenance and Grounds (100% of Time) Replace various expendable items and supplies as needed, such as light bulbs, smoke alarm batteries, etc. Prep, sand, paint, texture, interior and exterior walls, trim, railings, etc. Other similar maintenance duties may include caulking, changing light and outlet covers and replacing window screens.

Small repairs of cabinets, furniture, fixtures, and appliances as needed. Perform necessary plumbing and mechanical repairs, as needed. Operate various mowing and cutting machines to maintain housing grounds.

May cut brush, trees, limbs, etc. and haul debris to disposal area. Power washing, trash removal and gutter cleaning are performed during these summer months.

Move or relocate furniture according to room and conference requirements for next occupants. This includes setting out or removing chairs, moving tables, setting up beds and adjusting bed heights, mattresses or other furniture as required. Maintain department cleaning tools and other department equipment in proper working condition.

This includes properly checking out and returning all equipment. Perform loading and unloading of departmental delivery vehicles. Follow safety procedures and keep work area in a clean and orderly manner.

Performs Other Duties and Special Projects as Required/Assigned Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Work or volunteer experience in general maintenance, grounds or performing related duties to the essential functions listed. Successful applicants for this position must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language with or without the use of an interpreter. Exhibit a basic level of computer literacy, sufficient to use software such as online time reporting system.
