Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for seasonal Tasting Room Wine Specialists to join the Argyle Winery Hospitality team! Reporting to the Tasting Room Manager, this role is a table service position that is the ambassador for the Argyle story. This position educates customers on Argyle wines, many that are available exclusively at the Tasting House. The role welcomes guests and offers guidance on various wine flights and by-the-glass selections, as well as articulately describes the complexities of each bottling, our Estate Vineyards, wine making processes, wine characteristics and all the nuances in-between. The Wine Specialist also knowledgeably consults guests on to-go wine bottle and case purchases while promoting and securing Club Membership sign-ups and related club incentives/benefits. This position includes shifts working events, sales campaigns, virtual tastings and/or additional hospitality positions as needed on site and is eligible for tips and incentives. This role is based in Dundee, OR and is a temporary assignment (May-Sept.), and is a part-time, non-exempt position, working Thursday-Sunday, 20hrs./week.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Lift upwards of 50lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Passion and knowledge for fine wine
  • Strong computer computational skills (MS Office Suite, CRM, and POS systems)
  • Previous sales experience in a restaurant, customer service, or winery tasting room setting preferred
  • Strong organizational and customer service skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions for customer resolve in a fast pace and dynamic environment and to quickly resolve guest concerns
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds and ability to execute/implement management direction and procedures
  • Must be able to provide U.S. Work Authorization without current or future sponsorship

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Perform fine wine hospitality, service & sales including processing orders and delivering tableside operations
  • Provide accessible on the floor support to daily TH (tasting house) team
  • Monitor and assist with TH staff's daily setup (opening), ongoing, and closing duties and events
  • Assist, oversee, and model high service standards and attentive service
  • Ensure guest satisfaction through ongoing table touches, monitoring, and acknowledge all Club Members to strengthen relationship building
  • Actively participate in all OneHouse sessions and staff meetings
  • Execute support role in other winery projects (internal / external)
  • Execute behaviors and performance to company standards, including policies, safety, and direction
