Job description

Platform Support Technician

Job Location: Hillsboro, OR Job Type: Contract

The candidate will work as a technician in a lab environment with a team of engineers that are responsible for validating Client's silicon products.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Building, maintaining and troubleshooting computer systems & test equipment used in a validation testing of Client's silicon products.
  • Using, imaging and maintaining Windows Operating Systems for validation activities.
  • Support Lab operations; lab clean up, recycling of old equipment, preparing lab benches for new systems.
  • Regular configuration changes for validation testing; BIOS, firmware, IFWI, CPLD, SPI chips, etc.
  • Basic lab network maintenance.
  • Understand and follow technical documents and best-known processes.
  • Administer customer support via a ticketing system.
  • Handle high-value inventory, as well as work with the inventory team to maintain the integrity of inventory records.
  • Regular interaction with Windows client OS and communication tools; Outlook, Teams, VNC, Excel, etc.
  • Maintaining COVID-19 clean-it, use-it, clean-it practices and following Client guidelines on wearing masks.

Required qualifications:

  • Familiarity and experience in building/repairing/testing client PC hardware.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues to the component level.
  • Experience & ability to set up test platforms & debug the equipment.
  • Experience using, building, & maintaining computers that run on Windows Operating System. Ability to follow instructions and executing tests in a computer lab environment.
  • Ability to take on work requests, follow-up with the requestor, & work independently to complete the task.
  • Strong team player & ability to work in a dynamic team environment supporting multiple engineers.
  • Strong English has written & verbal communication skills, including proper
  • Strong computer skills; Windows 10, diagnose and resolve client OS issues, diagnose and resolve client PC hardware issues.
  • The ability to lift 35 pounds is required, able to crawl under benches and behind racks for routing cables.

Preferred but not required qualifications:

  • Familiarity and experience in building/repairing/testing server hardware.
  • Prior Client validation lab experience (not manufacturing or fab).
  • Experience with programming/flashing tools in a validation environment.
  • Experience with soldering and re-work.
  • Python scripting experience.
  • Experience with debug equipment such as oscilloscopes, Digital Multi-Meter, Load equipment, and power supplies.
