The (USA) Technician, Telecommunications, plays a critical role in supporting the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of telecommunications and cabling systems across Walmart facilities. This position involves coordinating with multiple teams to ensure compliance with technical codes and standards, conducting quality assurance inspections, and resolving installation issues. The role requires expertise in wireless design validation, project material management, and providing hands-on training to technicians. The technician contributes to continuous improvement efforts, fosters strong stakeholder relationships, and upholds company policies and values to deliver reliable network solutions that meet business and customer needs.
About the team:
Our team consists of skilled technicians organized into specialized groups, including two dedicated to low voltage cabling installations for remodel and new construction projects. They ensure compliance with local codes while delivering precise and efficient work. Collaborating closely, the team supports the development, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications systems such as structured cabling and network hardware. Their commitment to quality and adherence to standards ensures reliable telecommunications infrastructure across all projects, contributing to the safety and functionality of facilities.
What you'll do:
  • Oversee telecommunications project work to ensure installation and timeline requirements are met through effective planning and communication with construction and store planning teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to install, repair, and upgrade cabling and telecommunication systems in compliance with technical codes and standards.
  • Perform quality assurance inspections on installations, ensuring contract compliance and addressing deficiencies with project management.
  • Provide onsite training and support to technicians for troubleshooting, network operations, and equipment installation.
  • Engage with regulatory inspectors to ensure adherence to fire, electrical, and federal codes, resolving installation issues proactively.

What you'll bring:
  • Proven experience in telecommunications cabling installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, including Category 6 cabling and cable laying.
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications networks, network switches, and wireless system design and validation.
  • Ability to interpret and apply technical codes and standards such as federal building codes, National Electric Code, and FCC regulations.
  • Demonstrated skills in project planning, quality assurance, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet installation timelines.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with suppliers, internal teams, and regulatory inspectors.
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement in technical processes and customer service.

The hourly wage range for this position is $21.00 - $40.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
