Job description

Position Overview

Gateway Fiber is seeking a driven and experienced Direct Sales Team Lead to build, develop, and manage a high-performing team of independent contractor door to door sales representatives. This is a player-coach role, where the Team Lead is responsible for both leading the team and actively selling door to door in the field.

This individual will recruit top talent, deliver effective training, and drive team performance while personally contributing to sales production. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who leads by example, excels in coaching others, and thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

Personal Sales Production

  • Actively sell Gateway Fiber services in assigned territories through door-to-door prospecting
  • Meet or exceed individual sales targets and activity expectations
  • Demonstrate effective sales techniques and customer engagement best practices in the field
  • Lead by example by maintaining strong personal performance and professionalism

Recruitment & Team Building

  • Recruit, interview, and onboard independent contractor sales representatives
  • Build and maintain a consistent pipeline of qualified candidates
  • Support rapid team growth in expanding markets

Training & Field Development

  • Lead onboarding and ongoing training on Gateway Fiber products, sales approach, and territory strategy
  • Conduct regular field ride-alongs to provide real-time coaching and feedback
  • Maintain Gateway's professional standards through coaching and accountability
  • Develop reps' ability to confidently present, handle objections, and close sales

Coaching & Performance Management

  • Set clear expectations for daily activity, sales goals, and territory coverage
  • Monitor performance metrics and provide consistent coaching and accountability
  • Motivate and inspire the team through recognition, goal setting, and performance tracking
  • Address performance gaps with structured improvement plans

Field Operations & Administration

  • Manage daily schedules, turf assignments, and market coverage
  • Track team sales, activity, and KPIs to ensure targets are met
  • Handle administrative responsibilities related to independent contractors, including reporting and compliance
  • Act as the primary point of contact between contractors and internal teams

Leadership & Culture

  • Foster a high-energy, competitive, and team-oriented sales environment
  • Promote professionalism, integrity, and a customer-first mindset
  • Lead from the front by maintaining a strong field presence
  • Proactively resolve team challenges and maintain morale

Qualifications

  • Proven success in door-to-door or direct sales (telecom, fiber, or related industry preferred)
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, or coaching a sales team strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and develop sales talent
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
  • Ability to balance personal sales performance with team leadership responsibilities
  • Highly organized with strong administrative and time management skills
  • Self-motivated, competitive, and results-driven

Compensation & Benefits
