Job description

As a Project Manager at KVH, you will lead multi-disciplinary, cross-functional projects, including new service launches, service changes, and vendor/network initiatives across KVH's connectivity and airtime portfolio (e.g., satellite and cellular connectivity, managed IT, and value-added services). You help coordinate requirements with internal and external stakeholders and usher initiatives through the entire project lifecycle, often managing a portfolio of concurrent projects that may span more than one program area. This includes managing project schedules, tracking budget and cost against plan, identifying risks, prioritizing and sequencing your own assigned workload, and clearly communicating goals to project stakeholders across Sales, Engineering, Finance, IT and vendor partners. Functional and people leadership for this role sit within IT; cross-program prioritization and resourcing decisions are made by service leadership.  Your projects often span offices, time zones and hemispheres, and it's your job to keep all the players coordinated on progress and deadlines.

KVH currently operates on a hybrid work schedule of four in-office days and one remote day per week. This position requires onsite attendance at our Bristol, Rhode Island headquarters Monday through Thursday.

  • Facilitate and develop your project teams to ensure maximum performance, providing purpose, direction, and motivation to keep contributors aligned and accountable.
  • Lead assigned projects from initial scoping through deployment and adoption - coordinating with stakeholders on requirements, identifying schedules, budget estimates, and implementation plans, including risk mitigation - while ensuring the highest quality standards.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget. Support vendor and network/service partner relationships established by service leadership, engaging directly as needed for project and launch activities.
  • Analyze the status of your assigned projects, which may span multiple program areas and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that requirements can be met.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders across Sales, Engineering, Finance, IT and vendor partners, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
  • Establish and maintain processes for managing scope during the project lifecycle, setting quality and performance standards and assessing risks.
  • Monitor resources to ensure project efficiency and maximize deliverables.
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary, according to project work plan.
  • Maintain visibility into the status of your assigned project portfolio, providing regular reporting to support prioritization and sequencing decisions made by business and service leadership. Where projects span multiple program areas, prioritize and sequence your own workload and escalate cross-program resourcing conflicts to leadership.

  • Three or more years of project management experience, including managing multiple concurrent projects; demonstrated high organization skills and strong sense of responsibility and ownership for success of projects.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams spanning sales, technical/engineering, and finance stakeholders; managing outsourced projects, vendors, and network/service partners.
  • Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines.
  • Proven success working with all levels of management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Team builder and proactive problem solver. Thrives in a team environment.
  • Familiar with MS Office Programs and project management tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.  Consideration will be given to candidates with a different academic or career background who bring relevant project/program management experience, ideally in a technical, telecom, or connectivity services environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (not required, but a plus):

  • Experience assisting stakeholders with requirements definition, roadmap planning, and functional specification development.
  • Experience developing project budgets, business cases, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Experience in telecom, connectivity, satellite, or related technical services industries.
  • Professional certification, such as PMP or PRINCE2.
  • Experience with Smartsheet, MS Project, or Jira.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • To be considered for this position, applicants must submit both a resume and a cover letter. The cover letter should describe your relevant experience and interest in the role.
KVH offers a full suite of benefits to include generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, flexible/health spending account, employee stock purchase program, and retirement plan.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or protected veteran status and will not be discriminated against on the basis of disability. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States (US Citizen or Permanent Resident) and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire. KVH also conducts background checks and drug screening after acceptance of an offer.
