Job description

Strategos provides three distinct services designed to complement one another to provide the highest quality service and products. Strategos seeking an engineering opportunity in support of the Naval War College (NWC) and its components as they relate to their mission of Professional Military Education, Joint Professional Military Education, help the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) define the future Navy, its missions and roles, support combat readiness, and strengthen maritime security cooperation. Telecommunications Technician Network Cabling Location: Newport, RI
Full Time (Y/N): Y

Clearance: Top-Secret / SCI
Primary Responsibilities: • Install and maintain voice, data, cabling, fiber optic cabling, rack, patch panels, and wireless access points for classified and unclassified networks for data and voice communications.
Required Job Experience: • Follow directions and diagrams for cabling installations for Category 3/5/5e/6 and fiber optic cabling, termination, and certification tools.
• Install, test, troubleshoot, program, and repair digital switching equipment, consoles, power/ringing relay racks, and related telecommunications systems.
• Analyze system failures and troubleshoot software, hardware, and factors causing issues.
• Prepare work prints and schematics to define network drops and illustrate design layouts.
• Maintain accurate equipment records in a computerized database and use ticketing software.
• Assemble and arrange materials/equipment; interpret and verify service orders, drawings, specifications, and installation instructions.
• Run, pull, stop, and splice copper and fiber optic cables (e.g., CAT5, SE, CAT6); mount telecom equipment following industry standards.
• Arrange routers, hubs, racks, ladders, j-hooks, and switches based on client specifications.
• Install access control systems, surveillance cameras; maintain strong client relations, and attentive support.
• Conduct site surveys, select and verify cable pathways, design and implement specifications.
• Oversee third-party cabling projects and maintain all cabling infrastructure documentation.
• Carry out copper installation, testing, and troubleshooting; resolve attendant AV cabling issues, and install IP devices.
• Manage parts, tools, and supplies inventory accurately.
• Experienced in copper and fiber optic cabling systems, closet hardware, connecting blocks, fiber enclosures, and patch panels.
• Comprehensive telecom work, wiring practices, underground work, color code terminations, signal flow, and Ethernet/DSL connections. • 3-5 years of networking infrastructure experience or CCNT certification required.
• Strong IT infrastructure background with knowledge of networking principles, wiring standards, cable/fiber splicing, termination, and testing.
• Conduit bending, digital multi-meters, and familiar with EIA, BICSI, NEC, or TIA standards.
• Skilled in reading schematic and line diagrams; must have own telecom tools (snips, punch down, cordless drill, wire strippers, PPE). Degree: N/A Certification (Required if less than 3-5 years of network infrastructure experience): Certified in Convergent Network Technologies (CCNT).
