Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Technical Manager - Retail Finance Reporting & Reconciliation Applications to lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for SAP Retail BW reporting, financial/data reconciliation platforms, and full-stack applications supporting high-volume retail finance processes that handle millions of transactions per day.

The Senior Manager should have broad familiarity with SAP BW reporting, enterprise reconciliation platforms, cloud-based data engineering, full-stack application delivery, and audit-ready operational practices. This role requires a leader who can bridge SAP BW data warehousing and modern full-stack/cloud application platforms, guide technical teams, evaluate solution design quality, challenge architectural decisions, and communicate technology tradeoffs to business and executive stakeholders.

Technology Familiarity
  • SAP BW and SAP Data Warehousing: Strong experience in SAP BW/BW4HANA, Advanced DataStore Objects, CompositeProviders, InfoObjects, transformations, DTPs, Process Chains, BW queries, source-system integration, data load monitoring, and source-to-target validation.
  • Reporting and analytics: SAP Analysis for Office, SAP Analytics for Cloud (SAC), BTP
  • Reconciliation and data quality platforms: Financial, inventory, and operational reconciliation applications; exception management workflows; audit traceability; data quality rules; validation controls; and operational support processes.
  • Full-stack application technologies: React, Java frameworks, Python, ABAP, REST APIs, API platform concepts, UI design patterns, application architecture, and integration patterns for enterprise-scale applications.
  • Cloud and data engineering: Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, SQL, relational databases, Postgres or similar database platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, Kafka or event-driven ingestion patterns, and batch or near-real-time processing.
  • DevOps, operations, and governance: CI/CD pipelines, Git-based source control, Kubernetes, automated testing, monitoring, logging, alerting, incident management, change management, SOX controls, access controls, data retention, and production support practices.
Responsibilities
  • Engineering leadership: Provide technical direction, evaluate solution design quality, and ensure teams deliver scalable, resilient, high-value solutions aligned to business, operational, audit, and enterprise architecture needs.
  • Scalability, reliability, and system performance: Monitor and optimize application, reporting, database, and data pipeline performance for high-volume transaction environments, including throughput, query performance, data load windows, latency, reliability, resiliency, and operational SLAs.
  • Talent management: Recruit, manage, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team while contributing to a positive and supportive culture, encouraging innovation, and driving a pragmatic balance of continuous improvement and effective value delivery.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with other technical teams (engineering, platform, design, security, audit) to understand their expectations and develop solutions in accordance with appropriate guidelines.
  • Risk management: Proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate both internal and external risks. Communicate clearly on progress, challenges, and opportunities to stakeholders, including presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Staying current: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development, analytics, and AI technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on engineering and software architecture and development.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting or providing technical oversight for SAP BW reporting solutions, including familiarity with Advanced DataStore Objects, CompositeProviders, transformations, DTPs, Process Chains, BW queries, data load monitoring, and source-to-target validation.
  • 3+ years of required experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery reporting, including designing, developing, and supporting scalable reporting solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL and database performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing/partitioning strategies, execution plan analysis, and performance troubleshooting for enterprise reporting and reconciliation workloads.
  • Experience leading or supporting mission-critical reporting, reconciliation, or transaction processing platforms that process millions of records or transactions per day, with accountability for scalability, reliability, operational controls, and production support.
  • 5+ years recruiting, managing, and retaining a high-performing team of software development professionals in an agile environment.
  • 3+ years using generative AI as an integrated component in software solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to diagram complex software architectures and communicate complex engineering ideas to non-technical stakeholders both visually and verbally.
  • Strong experience in React, API Platform and full cycle development end-to-end, from strategy to execution.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based technologies (GCP), engineering frameworks and tools.
  • Understanding and familiarity with CI/CD, cloud dev ops, containers (Kubernetes/Docker, etc.), and GCP managed services.
  • Experience in large Retail, Pharmacy, a plus.

    Pay Range

    The typical pay range for this role is:

    $118,450.00 - $260,590.00

    This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
