Overview

The IT Manager owns the company's technology infrastructure, e-commerce platform, systems security, and day-to-day technical operations. This role manages the hands-on technical execution of the Magento 2 e-commerce platform, fulfillment and inventory systems, telecom/network infrastructure, cybersecurity and compliance programs, and leads the internal IT team and outsourced IT support vendor - ensuring the company's technology is reliable, secure, and scalable.

Duties & Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Infrastructure

Lead technology strategy and roadmap for infrastructure, software applications, and security measures, in alignment with company goals.

Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and tools to improve business processes and e-commerce operations.

Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of technical/operational data to inform business decisions.

Assess the technical viability of new business opportunities and ensure IT infrastructure can support them; conduct technical due diligence on potential technology partners and vendors.

Manage technology spend to identify cost-saving opportunities

E-Commerce Platform Management (Magento 2)

Manage the Magento 2 platform, ensuring stability, scalability, and security.

Implement and manage Magento 2 extensions/plugins; partner with vendors to optimize UX, checkout, and conversion.

Monitor website traffic, user behavior, and conversion rates; implement site changes to support marketing campaigns and promotions.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including performance, bugs, and compatibility problems.

Manage regular PCI audits and ADA compliance for the website.

Manage the third-party hosting platform (Adobe) to ensure performance, stability, and minimal downtime.

Maintain and update fraud detection systems (Authorize.net, Signifyd, Magento 2) and develop new strategies to counter evolving fraud tactics.

Provide technical support and training to internal users on new and changed features.

Inventory & Fulfillment Systems

Maintain Fishbowl Advanced, including regular updates and troubleshooting.

Install, configure, and maintain the on-premises UPS Shipexec fulfillment platform (hardware and software); monitor performance and resolve issues; liaise with UPS on service disruptions.

Partner with Piedmont on the maintenance and enhancement of the 4Site platform.

IT Support, Telecom & Network Operations

Manage the outsourced IT support firm responsible for on-premises servers, network, and employee/warehouse computers, including uptime monitoring, security, troubleshooting, backups, and patch management.

Manage support, maintenance, and upgrades to the RingCentral phone system.

Negotiate with internet service providers to secure reliable, high-performance connectivity; implement network monitoring tools; maintain remote-work infrastructure.

Lead the evaluation and selection of new hardware and software to optimize network performance and security.

Compliance, Security & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry standards through regular NIST CSF 2.0 testing.

Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard customer and business data.

Assess and mitigate technology-related risks (data breaches, system failures, cyber threats); develop and maintain business continuity and contingency plans.

Systems Integration

Manage the Avalara tax platform integration with Magento 2 and QuickBooks Online, ensuring continual data syncing and timely plugin upgrades.

Vendor & Team Management

Negotiate and manage technology vendor/supplier contracts to ensure cost-effective, reliable solutions.

Recruit, onboard, and develop the IT team; provide day-to-day technical leadership and mentoring.

Candidate Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area, BA or BS required; Master's degree a plus.

Experience

  • 7+ years managing e-commerce technology infrastructure, ideally with Magento/Magento 2 experience.

  • Experience with fulfillment/ERP systems (e.g., Fishbowl, UPS Shipexec) and PCI/ADA compliance.

  • Experience managing outsourced IT vendors and telecom/network infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with NIST CSF or similar cybersecurity frameworks.

  • Strong vendor negotiation and contract management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a technical team.

Compensation

Range $85,600 - $111,200 / year

While starting pay falls within the given range, it can vary based on factors like geographic location, skills, education, and experience. Total earnings may also be affected by overtime, incentives, commissions, performance, and route assignment (where applicable).
