What You Will Be Doing:
F-16 Technical Publications Author - Level 1
Location: Fort Worth TX
What You Will Be Doing
As an F-16 Technical Publications Author - Level 1, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining mission-critical documentation that supports one of the world's most advanced fighter aircraft. You will transform complex engineering data into accurate, easy-to-understand maintenance and operations manuals used by technicians and flight crews globally. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of aircraft systems and a passion for technical writing. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to international defense efforts, and help ensure the readiness and success of the F-16 fleet.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and author accurate, clear, and user-friendly maintenance instructions and technical publications for the F-16 aircraft.
- Interpret and incorporate engineering data, drawings, schematics, and commercial technical manuals into cohesive documentation.
- Utilize various engineering systems such as EDMS and AEI to extract relevant data for avionics and weapons system technical content.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, flight test, customer support, and Air Force representatives.
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage technical order maintenance and updates for multiple F-16 customers.
- Review, evaluate, and process technical order change requests (AFTO Form 22 and AF Form 252) submitted by field units.
- Support requests for technical order pricing activities as needed.
- Assist with verification and validation of technical publications to ensure accuracy and compliance with customer requirements.
- Support quality assurance and peer review processes to ensure technical publications meet accuracy, usability, and formatting standards.
- Stay current with updates to military and industry standards for technical documentation to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of deliverables.

Basic Qualifications
• Experience/knowledge in Avionics and/or Weapon systems on aircraft
• Experience interacting with outside customers to resolve technical issues as required. i.e. Depot, Program Manager, Item Managers, and LM Engineering
• Experience/knowledge of interpreting complex technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and/or manufacturer specifications.
Desired skills
• Experience evaluating technical manual changes and familiar with TO 00-5-1 AF Technical Order System requirements or equivalent is highly desired
• Prior military aircraft avionics and/or weapons experience
• Experience/knowledge with Authoring in Standard Group Markup Language (SGML or XML) tagging
• Experience/knowledge with any of the following: Engineering drawings, Communication, UHF/VHF/SATCOM, VHF Radio, Crash/Standard survivable flight Data Recorder, Navigation Instrument Landing, Weapons, Fire Control Radar, Radar Altimeter, INS/EGI, Navigation/Targeting Pods, FCC/GAC/MMC, Head Up Display, Joint Helmet Mounted Display, Photographic/Video System, Video Recording, Penetration Aids and ECM, Electronic Countermeasures, Radar Threat, Chaff/Flare, Operational Flight Program (OFP)
• Hands on Aircraft Maintenance or Modification
Experience
• Experience with electronic technical manuals, task relationships
• Prior technical writing experience strongly preferred
• Military type aircraft experience preferred
• Experience using Epic Editor, Isodraw, Arbor Text Tool Suite, Quick Silver, XML, S1000D or similar
• Flight line experience using Technical Orders (TO) to troubleshoot discrepancies

Ability to work remotely
Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $52,300 - $92,230. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $60,200 - $104,190. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
