Job description

As the Mechanical Engineering Order Manager, you will serve as a key member of the leadership team, combining strong technical expertise with effective project and people management. This multifaceted role requires the ability to lead and develop a team of engineers, drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, and foster innovation across the department. Success in this position depends on balancing hands-on technical capability with leadership and communication skills, while cultivating a collaborative environment that builds technical skillsets and supports sustained operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Job / Order Workflow: Provide oversight for Job Orders as they flow in and out of the department, meeting key performance indicators of efficiency, productivity, on-time delivery to downstream customers and design quality
  • People Management: Manage and support a team of engineers, ensuring that they have the resources, training, and support to succeed through coaching and training opportunities
  • Project Leadership: Oversee and execute engineering programs and initiatives, ensuring proper staffing and the efficient execution of projects, while maintaining order flow performance
  • Communication: Clear communication both within the team, and with key stakeholders
  • Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement: Identify roadblocks and challenges, implementing solutions to improve productivity and the quality of engineering processes and design packages
  • Strategic Contributions: Contribute to the development and improvement of new product offerings and ensure that new technologies are implemented effectively

Qualifications - Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of engineering supervisor/management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and follow department procedures and directives
  • Demonstrated ability to create, maintain, and utilize metrics to drive Engineering performance
  • Skilled in engineering time estimating, scheduling, and managing a diverse engineering workload
  • Able to work effectively and accurately against deadlines and time constraints
  • Able to work with interruptions
  • Able to fully utilize MS Office and other software for analytics and communication
  • Ability to manage a team of trained professionals in a cooperative environment and achieve results
  • Occasional travel to our fabrication facility is required
