Job Title: Technical Sales Engineer
Location: Onsite
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Sales Engineer with a chemical engineering background to join a custom foam manufacturer supporting industries such as medical, aerospace, automotive, industrial, and electronics. This role blends technical consulting with customer relationship management. The ideal candidate is skilled at uncovering the customer's true requirements and converting them into a practical, manufacturable solution. This is an on-site, hands-on position collaborating closely with customers, manufacturing, and engineering teams.

 

Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, balancing technical -requirements with business objectives
- Act as the primary technical liaison between customers and the manufacturing floor, converting customer needs into actionable production solutions
- Generate new business through inbound inquiries and proactive prospecting
- Partner with engineering, estimating, manufacturing, and customer service teams to produce accurate and timely quotes
- Travel occasionally for customer site visits and industry trade shows or events
- Keep detailed and up-to-date records of accounts, sales pipeline, and customer communications
- Continuously build knowledge of foam materials, applications, and market trends

 

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the confidence to navigate unclear customer requirements toward a workable solution
- A natural interest in engaging with customers, paired with strong listening and communication skills that build trust
- Capability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders without sacrificing accuracy
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to juggle competing priorities
- Comfortable operating in a manufacturing setting and coordinating across departments on the shop floor
- Availability to work on-site full time at one of the listed locations

 

Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in technical sales, applications engineering, or a customer-facing engineering position
