Located in Bristol, Rhode Island for over 50 years, Tri-Mack Plastics is a leading manufacturer of high-temperature thermoplastic components for the aerospace-defense, semiconductor, energy and medical industries.

Position: Quality FAI & Technical Documentation Specialist
The Quality First Article Inspection (FAI) and Technical Documentation Specialist acts as the vital bridge between Tri-Mack's Engineering, Production, and Quality teams. They ensure that the initial production run of a new part used in aerospace or other critical applications meets all engineering specifications, and they develop, gather and organize the material certifications, test reports, and special process documentation as required. They meticulously verify that initial production runs meet exact design specifications, ensuring parts match blueprints, materials are certified, and that the manufacturing processes have produced compliant, audit-ready parts, together with the required documentation needed to ensure regulatory and customer compliance and product traceability.
Responsibilities& Accountabilities:
  • Perform blueprint ballooning or "bubbling" engineering drawings to assign unique identification numbers to every single dimension, note, and tolerance
  • Perform and prepare reports for mechanical inspections on plastic, machined metal and assemblies per customer specifications
  • Perform technical plans, capability studies and gage R&R (Repeatability & Reproducibility) studies
  • Conduct certification reviews, validating objective evidence, such as raw material certificates, plating processes, and heat-treatment logs, to ensure complete traceability
  • Recommend and develop inspection methods using manual, vision and automated inspection precision metrology equipment
  • Work with Engineering and Production to address any product issues
  • Supply objective evidence and required FAI packages to internal teams, customers, and regulatory auditors
  • Conduct yourself in an ethical and professional manner, show respect for your fellow workers and all company and personal property, and demonstrate Tri-Mack core values - Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Accountability, and Durability.
  • Adhere to all AS9100 requirements as specified in work instructions and by your supervisor
  • All other duties and special projects assigned by your manager
Education, Skills & Experience:
  • Familiarity with strict quality management systems and standards such as AS9100, ISO and NADCAP
  • 2+ years working in manufacturing quality control, preferably in an AS9100 Aerospace environment
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), interpreting complex engineering drawings, and special process notes
  • Comfort operating a wide range of manual and digital handheld inspection instruments, metrology tools, and gauges in a manufacturing environment producing parts with tight tolerances and complex features
  • Experience with ballooning and inspection software, such as CMMs, vision inspection systems and optical comparators
  • Previous experience in plastic injection molding or composites environment is preferred
  • Demonstrated strength in written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to analyze and prioritize information
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Excel and Outlook
