Job Summary

The Technical Documentation Specialist is responsible for generating, maintaining, and improving high-quality technical documentation for SurePoint Ag Systems products. This role works cross-functionally with engineering, product management, production, customer support, and sales to translate complex technical information into clear, accurate, and user-focused documentation for internal teams, dealers, installers, and end users.

This position plays a key role in supporting product usability, safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction by ensuring all documentation aligns with internal standards, applicable regulations, and industry best practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including operator manuals, installation instructions, setup guides, service documentation, standard operating procedures, and supporting technical materials.
  • Gather technical information by working directly with engineering, product management, production, support, and field personnel.
  • Translate complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and software-related concepts into clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation.
  • Ensure documentation complies with internal documentation standards, branding guidelines, and applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and update documentation to reflect product changes, revisions, and field feedback.
  • Edit and proofread documentation for clarity, accuracy, consistency, and technical correctness prior to release.
  • Organize and manage documentation within content management systems and shared repositories.
  • Support continuous improvement of documentation processes, templates, and standards.
  • Develop visual content creation, including basic diagrams, screenshots, and annotated images, in collaboration with design or engineering teams.


Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Engineering Technology, Agriculture, English, Communications, Education or a related field-or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple documentation projects and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
  • Eagerness to learn


Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in technical documentation, technical writing, or a related role.
  • Experience documenting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or agricultural equipment.
  • Familiarity with technical documentation standards (ISO, ANSI, or similar).
  • Experience working with content management systems, XML-based authoring tools, or desktop publishing software. Paligo experience is considered a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, or electrical diagrams.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Work Environment & Travel

The primary work location will be assigned in either Manhattan, KS or Atwood, KS based on the selected candidate's circumstances. Following initial onsite training, the possibility of implementing a hybrid arrangement may be considered.

This position will require approximately 15% travel for product reviews, training, field testing, or cross-functional collaboration.
