Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Windchill Integration Engineer to design, build, and operate integrations connecting PTC Windchill with ERP, MES, CAD, and other engineering and manufacturing systems. In this role you will own the technical integration layer between Windchill and the broader enterprise systems landscape. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on Windchill integration experience and a strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns, middleware platforms, and PLM-to-ERP data flows. In this role you will work closely with cross-functional partners — product, design, engineering, operations, and business stakeholders — to translate ambiguous requirements into well-engineered solutions, and will be expected to raise the bar through code review, design review, and mentorship of more junior engineers. The successful candidate brings strong engineering discipline, a clear communication style, and a track record of shipping meaningful work that holds up well in production.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop integrations between Windchill and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud) using Info*Engine, web services, and middleware platforms.
  • Build CAD integrations for Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Catia, and NX with Windchill, including check-in/check-out workflows and metadata mapping.
  • Develop integrations between Windchill and MES, MOM, and quality systems.
  • Build REST and SOAP services for Windchill data using OData, Info*Engine, or custom Java services.
  • Implement message-based and event-driven integrations using middleware (MuleSoft, Boomi, OIC, SAP CPI).
  • Design and operate robust error-handling, alerting, and resubmission patterns, applying disciplined engineering practices and partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure outcomes are durable, well-documented, and aligned with broader team and platform standards.
  • Profile and optimize performance of high-volume integrations, applying systematic measurement, targeted improvements, and data-driven validation to deliver quantifiable gains in throughput, latency, or resource efficiency.
  • Lead migration efforts to retire legacy point-to-point integrations and replace them with modern, middleware-mediated patterns, planning phased cutovers, building backward-compatibility shims where needed, and ensuring each migration step is reversible and well-monitored.
  • Collaborate with PLM, ERP, and CAD functional teams to align integrations with business processes.
  • Develop integration documentation, message specifications, and runbooks, applying disciplined engineering practices and partnering closely with stakeholders to ensure outcomes are durable, well-documented, and aligned with broader team and platform standards.
  • Provide hands-on post-go-live and hypercare support, working closely with operations teams to triage incidents quickly, identify root causes, and drive durable fixes that improve long-term system stability.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers through code review, design review, pair programming, and structured knowledge sharing, helping the broader team grow in technical maturity and confidence over time.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging integration tools and patterns, assessing maturity, fit for purpose, and total cost of ownership, and make grounded recommendations on which to adopt, pilot, or defer based on real engineering needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Five or more years of PLM integration experience with a strong focus on Windchill.
  • Hands-on experience with Info*Engine and Windchill Java API.
  • Experience designing PLM-to-ERP integrations (SAP, Oracle).
  • Working knowledge of CAD integration patterns.
  • Experience with middleware platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, OIC, or SAP CPI.
  • Strong SQL skills and familiarity with Windchill data model.
  • Experience with REST and SOAP web services.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and documentation skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PTC Windchill certifications.
  • Experience with ThingWorx or IIoT integration.
  • Exposure to API management platforms.
  • Familiarity with event-driven and Kafka-based integration patterns.
  • Experience operating Windchill in the cloud.
