Position Summary
The Tech Aide is responsible for ensuring all patients are roomed and scanned efficiently, as well as perform scheduling duties in an outpatient facility.
Key Responsibilities:ย
- Support MRI, CT, Xray techs with daily duties to include, but not limited to, checking referrals, verifying and correcting referring physicians when needed, obtaining lab results, calling patients/referring offices for clarification or updated orders, utilizing ISTAT (when available), etc.
- Ensure patients are properly roomed based on scheduled time.
- Ensure walk-in x-rays are roomed based on walk-in time.
- Triage patients and assist with prepping the patient for their exam including directing them to changing rooms to gown, performing screening questionnaires, stocking rooms with supplies, starting IVs, positioning, etc.
- Monitor the schedule for improper tagging of patients.
- Work with the Tech Aide Lead, Tech Manager, and Director of Radiology to assist with developing protocols to improve the flow of patients.
- Assist with sending specimens to the labs for pathology and obtaining pathology results.
- Verify patient information, prior exams and history, and thoroughly document necessary information in RIS/PACS systems.
- Train and support peers and new team members, sharing knowledge, demonstrating best practices, and ensuring consistency in processes across the department.
- Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A minimum of 1 year previous medical office experience (radiology preferred).
- Ability to do essential duties.
- Ability to read, understand, write, speak and follow English instructions. Bilingual abilities preferred.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely for effective communication.
- General knowledge of insurance benefits.
- Must be able to type 25 words per minute.
