Job description

Systems Administrator
Location: MacDill AFB, FL

Leidos is seeking a motivated and detail oriented Systems Administrator to support mission critical operations at MacDill AFB. This role is ideal for an early career professional who thrives in dynamic environments and is eager to build hands on experience managing both classified and unclassified systems.

You will play a key role in supporting the maintenance, optimization, and security of enterprise systems that directly contribute to operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, and maintain a range of physical and virtual systems.
  • Design, plan, and execute system backups and disaster recovery processes.
  • Perform daily operations and maintenance of VMware technologies including ESXi, Horizon, vCenter, and vSphere.
  • Manage and maintain enterprise storage solutions such as Nutanix and Dell platforms.
  • Support virtual desktop infrastructure including virtual desktops and connection brokers.
  • Build and deploy virtual desktop images using established USMC standard ISOs.
  • Apply system patches, updates, and custom fixes across supported environments.
  • Monitor, analyze, and optimize system performance across hardware, software, and network services.
  • Maintain cybe.rsecurity compliance and accreditation for all supported systems

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 2+ years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • DoD IAT Level I certification or higher, or Security+ / Network+ certification.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Experience supporting zero client technology.
  • Hands on experience with VMware vSphere, hypervisor management, and VDI environments.
  • Experience or familiarity with Nutanix AOS.
  • Experience building and deploying ESXi servers, including cluster creation and expansion.
  • Experience creating VMware images for Windows Server and Windows 10/11.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Server virtualization deployment and maintenance.
  • Experience implementing VMware Horizon View.
  • Proficiency with Windows 10 and 11.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy management.
  • Valid U.S. passport with ability to travel internationally on short notice.
  • Ability to work in austere and drug free environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of systems training experience.
  • VMware Certified Associate or Professional certification.
  • Nutanix Certified Associate or Professional certification.
  • Ability to respond to crisis situations and support surge operations, including extended work hours.
