Summary
The Development Manager - Project & Over-Dimensional Freight is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities for specialized freight forwarding services, including heavy lift, breakbulk, over-dimensional, and project cargo solutions. This role requires in-depth knowledge of complex logistics requirements and close collaboration with engineering, operations, and pricing teams to deliver tailored solutions for clients in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, construction, and mining.
The ideal candidate possesses strong consultative selling skills, a deep understanding of global logistics for non-standard cargo, and a proven ability to manage long sales cycles and large-volume opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities
• identify and pursue new business opportunities with a focus on project cargo and over-dimensional freight services.
• Develop client-specific transport solutions for high-value and complex shipments.
• Conduct site visits, RFQ consultations, and scope evaluations for heavy lift and project logistics needs.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and compliance teams to ensure execution aligns with customer requirements.
• Negotiate freight rates, project contracts, and service agreements for international and domestic shipments.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with EPCs, OEMs, and project owners.
• Maintain accurate pipeline tracking and reporting using CRM systems.
• Monitor market trends in project logistics and provide strategic input to leadership.
Educational background / Work experience
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in freight forwarding sales, with direct involvement in project or over-dimensional freight.
• Experience working with EPC contractors or managing international project cargo is highly desirable
Skills & Competencies
• Strong technical understanding of multimodal project logistics including flat-rack, breakbulk, RoRo, and barge movements.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, transport specs, and lifting plans.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for high-stakes and multi-party contracts.
• Comfortable with international regulations including ITAR, EAR, and Incoterms.
• Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing long and complex sales cycles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms (e.g., MS Dynamics)
Preferred Qualifications
• Proven success in project logistics or industrial freight forwarding sales.
• Familiarity with global infrastructure projects and site logistics planning.
• Certification or training in project cargo, heavy lift, or industrial packaging is a plus.
Language skills
• Fluent in English (oral and written). Additional language proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese, German) is advantageous for global projects.

For this position, the expected base pay is: $97,000 - $145,000 / Annual. Actual base compensation will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations.
