Job Summary:
The Senior IT Development Manager for Merchandise Systems reports to the IT Director for Solution Delivery as part of the Information Technology team, and leads the development team made up of Software Engineers and System Analysts to provide production support and application development for corporate systems specifically focused on Merchandising (Merch) Systems. This role works closely and collaboratively with leaders from all At Home departments, and is involved with all aspects of the corporate systems lifecycle including design, development, and support of the deployed solutions.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in setting overall priorities of IT initiatives, including Production Support work, major projects, and minor enhancements.
  • Monitor internal work orders, and external ticketing systems, for all tasks related to the support of the corporate application systems.
  • Ensure team members are following established procedures to meet SOX compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Project Management resources to ensure business requirements are accurate and complete.
  • Define the appropriate placement of functionality and data within technology-based business solutions.
  • Oversee the functional and technical design, and code review of IT projects.
  • Provide Level of Effort estimates and timelines to assist Project Management with setting delivery dates on Production Support issue resolution and Enhancement deployments.
  • Build and develop technical team resources; identify and align talent to facilitate the completion of team goals
  • Collaborate with infrastructure support personnel to define operational aspects of business solutions (security, network, integration, etc.)
  • Apply enterprise standards, policies, patterns and reference architectures to all solutions.
  • Promote the use of shared applications and reusable components to reduce costs and improve information flows.
  • Assist with the evaluation of commercial-off-the-shelf and partner-provided solutions.
  • Assess risk, develop deployment and backout plans, schedule implementations and post-production support coverage.
  • Oversee the deployment and monitoring of application changes.
  • Provide recommendations to management, based on current and emerging technologies, on methods to reduce costs, improve performance and availability, and reduce administration of At Home information systems.
  • Assist with the creation of information roadmaps for achieving the defined future state architecture.
  • Create an environment that welcomes change and creative problem solving, and one that values feedback, coaching, and general talent development.
  • Monitor and summarize progress of projects for management.
  • Coach, develop, train, retrain, hire and discipline team members.

Qualifications & Competencies:
  • Proficient knowledge of Merchandise systems such as Product Information Management (PIM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Enterprise Retail Systems (ERP).
  • Experience with Enterprise Data Interchange (EDI) systems is a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of Merchandising principles such as product lifecycle, vendor collaboration, purchasing and receiving.
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize, and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines and an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities.
  • Working ability to remain effective under stress, and respond to pressure in a manner acceptable to others and the organization.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease.
  • Ability to understand and apply software implementation methodology concepts.
  • Proficient ability to communicate effectively with others using written and spoken English, including the ability to provide clear, constructive direction and feedback to team members.
  • Expert understanding of change management strategy and practice.
  • Ability to manage disagreements through consensus building, relationship management and the formation and presentation of logical, data and fact-based arguments.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field or equivalent year-for-year experience required.
  • Two or more years of experience managing or supervising others required. Experience managing software developers and system analysts preferred.
  • Retail industry experience preferred, especially related to any of the following areas: store operations, warehouse distribution, store allocation, merchandising, marketing, accounting, and finance.
  • Knowledge of related systems such as POS, Salesforce Commerce/Marketing Cloud and corporate ERP systems is preferred.
