St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a Systems Support Technician for our well-established Management Information Systems (MIS) Department whose headquarters are located in beautiful St. Augustine, Florida.

This position provides technical support for the maintenance and operation of the County's Management Information Systems.

The ideal Systems Support Technician candidate must possess St. Johns County's core values of dedication, openness, adaptability, visionary, fiscal responsibility, integrity, humility and must work well in a collaborative team environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshoots and repairs computers, scanners, printers, and other peripheral equipment.

  • Installs and supports software applications, including operating systems, in-house applications, and third-party applications.

  • Maintains and updates equipment documentation.

  • Prepares and configures new computers and equipment for deployment.

  • Coordinates departmental software upgrades and installation.

  • Terminates and tests network cables.

  • Maintains a full-time presence on the job.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent recognized certification.

  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year of related experience, which may be obtained through an apprenticeship, internship, or similar position, demonstrating knowledge of the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license and any other endorsements necessary to legally operate vehicles used while assigned to this position.

  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills to serve others.

  • Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.

  • Must be able to operate a computer.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Knowledge of current technology trends and solutions, computing and network standards, protocols, and procedures.

  • Knowledge of installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade and operation of computer hardware, software and peripherals.

  • Skill in the installation, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and peripherals.

  • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.

  • Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports.
