Position Overview:
Professional nurse leader/manager responsible for the overall management of area(s) under his/her direction on a 24/7 basis.   Manager must be a positive role model by demonstrating professional practice and behavior, being competent in all areas under his/her direction, and actively supporting mission, vision, and values of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for assessing, planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating all nursing, administrative and related technical activities to ensure care of all patients in MS/CC services.

Is responsible for ensuring all departmental activities are in compliance with standards established by JCAHO, DFS, hospital bylaws, departmental regulations, institutional policies and procedures and Standards of Nursing Practice for patient care. Responsibilities also include performance improvement activities, human resource management, fiscal management, supply and equipment management, house supervision, department specific staff development and education, customer service focus as well as developing and cultivating partnership with all members of the healthcare team including physicians.

Qualifications

Graduate from a Board approved nursing program with current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of North Carolina.  Knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing appropriate to the practice setting.  Five years recent medical/surgical clinical experience including a minimum of three years management experience.  Emphasis on strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to manage working relationships.   Current BLS and ACLS training required.  Possesses or be willing to obtain PALS training within 6 months of assuming position. Possesses membership in professional organization for area (s) under his/her direction as well as a nursing management organization or be willing to obtain within one year. Pursues programs of continuing education/staff development consistent with requirements of Granville Medical Center.  Participates in educational conferences and updates and maintains professional knowledge and skills related to the management of area(s) of responsibility.  Processes information on the Center's Health Information System as required in performing job responsibilities. BSN or working towards BSN or equivalent degree is preferred.
