Sutter Health Alliance - Valley

Position Overview:

Leads Sutter Health Plan's (SHP) new commercial sales engine across the large group and small group employer segments in assigned territory. Accountable for new membership growth, request for proposal (RFP) win rate, pipeline health, and broker channel productivity, and directly manages the SHP account executive team. Serves as a player-coach-personally engaging with priority brokers, consultants, and prospective employer clients while building the discipline, tools, and forecasting rigor needed to scale a competitive provider-sponsored plan. Partners closely with product, underwriting, account management, marketing, and network teams to translate Sutter's integrated delivery value proposition into measurable sales results.

Job Description:

EDUCATION:

Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • Bachelor's: Business Administration or related field


TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 years recent relevant experience
  • CA Life & Health Insurance license is highly desired

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding new-business membership and revenue targets in the regional market.
  • Experience working with national and regional brokerage/consulting firms.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a Business-to-Business (B2B) sales team in health insurance, employee benefits, or a related regulated industry.
  • Strong consultative, solution-selling, and negotiation skills across brokers, consultants, and employer C-suite/HR audiences.
  • Working knowledge of fully insured, self-funded/administrative services only (ASO), and flex-funded products; specific insurance coverage (SIC) underwriting concepts; per member per month (PMPM) benchmarking; and state regulatory environment.
  • Demonstrated forecasting and pipeline-management discipline using Salesforce or comparable customer relationship management (CRM) tool.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level presentation skills; ability to translate complex benefit and network concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Financial acumen sufficient to partner credibly with underwriting and finance on pricing and deal economics.
  • Ability to operate as a player-coach-balancing personal selling on strategic deals with team leadership.
  • Ability to build a cohesive team with diverse skill sets.
  • Ability to reorganize complex work structures and reporting relationships to increase efficiency and productivity.

Pay Range is $129,188.80 to $193,772.80 / annual salary

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health's comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
