Job Description
The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City's evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. The DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, visitors, volunteers, and people in our custody. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. The DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 7,500 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.
The IT Division is in need of a Genetec Support Engineer to support our Genetec Video Management System, underlying Windows and VMware infrastructure, EMC SAN environment, Genetec Door Control System, LPR and Body Camera environments. Candidate will be part of a team Responsible for 24x7 support and coverage across all DOC operations and facilities in the City of NY.
The Genetec Support Engineer will serve as a member of the technical support team responsible for maintaining the availability, reliability, and performance of critical security systems across DOC operations and facilities throughout New York City. The position will support the Department's Genetec Video Management System (VMS) and associated infrastructure, including Windows servers, VMware environments, EMC storage systems, access control, License Plate Recognition (LPR), and Body-Worn Camera technologies.
The Genetec Support Engineer will:
-Provide administration, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and technical support for the
Department's Genetec Video Management System.
-Support the underlying Microsoft Windows Server and VMware infrastructure associated with Genetec
and related security systems.
-Maintain and troubleshoot the Department's EMC SAN/storage environment supporting video
surveillance and other security technology platforms.
-Provide technical support for the Genetec Access Control/Door Control System, including
troubleshooting system, server, connectivity, and hardware-related issues.
-Support License Plate Recognition (LPR) systems and associated applications, servers, cameras, and
infrastructure.
-Provide technical support for the Department's Body-Worn Camera environment, including system
availability, application functionality, storage, connectivity, and integration issues.
-Monitor system performance, availability, storage utilization, and overall infrastructure health and
proactively address potential service interruptions.
-Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, network, storage, and application-related
issues affecting Genetec and integrated security systems.
-Perform system upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and preventative maintenance in
accordance with established IT policies and change-management procedures.
-Coordinate with internal IT teams, vendors, contractors, and operational stakeholders to troubleshoot
and resolve complex technical issues.
-Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and support
records.
-Participate in testing and implementation of new security technologies, system enhancements,
integrations, and infrastructure upgrades.
-Respond to system incidents and outages and assist with root-cause analysis and corrective action.
-Ensure security systems remain operational and available to support the Department's facility security,
safety, monitoring, and investigative requirements.
-Participate in a team responsible for providing 24x7 technical support and coverage for critical systems
supporting DOC facilities and operations throughout New York City.
-Participate in an on-call rotation and provide after-hours, weekend, and emergency support as
operational needs require.
-Perform other related technical duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering; or,
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
