Their main role is to assist clients in planning, organizing, and managing their own care and support services. Support Brokers provide guidance on budgeting, hiring personal assistants, understanding program rules, and advocating for the individual's needs. They empower people to make informed choices and achieve greater independence in their daily lives.

What does a support brokerage do?

A support brokerage acts as an intermediary that helps clients connect with service providers or resources, often in healthcare, social services, or employment support. They coordinate services, advocate for clients, and ensure access to necessary support, frequently working with case management tools and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

What are the main challenges faced by support brokers when coordinating services for individuals with disabilities?

Effective communication and advocacy are crucial, as brokers must work closely with clients, families, service providers, and funding agencies to develop and monitor person-centered support plans. Staying organized and adaptable is key, as priorities can shift quickly in response to changes in clients' circumstances or program guidelines.
