Minimum Requirements: Internal Candidates Only
New York State Teaching Certification in the following area: Students with Disabilities
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of the NYS assessments and curriculum & graduation requirements
Proven success as a classroom teacher with students with learning challenges
Ability to establish a rapport with students with diverse needs
Effective or Highly Effective as defined by the District Annual Professional Performance Review
Demonstrate flexibility in response to students whose achievement requires alternate strategies
Ability to be a creative problem solver to monitor and adjust instructional strategies to ensure course achievement for learners.
Position Summary/Responsibilities:
Beginning 7/7/26-8/13/2026, program runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with students attending three hours daily.
Instruct groups of students to ensure mastery of course expectations and/or using FUEL and alternate methods allowing for credit recovery success;
Instruct students in preparation for State Assessments/ NYS Regents exams;
Utilize alternate teaching and engagement strategies to support students exhibiting learning gaps;
Engage with instructional team to identify what students need to know, assess knowledge/skills, and respond using tiered interventions matched to learner needs;
Maintain grade books, portfolios, evidence of student learning.
