Job Description

In Virginia Tech's Division of Student Affairs, that's exactly what we're doing every day-guiding, nurturing, and supporting students as they learn and grow into the leaders and world-changers of today and tomorrow.
We're currently searching for a Case Manager to join our Residential Well-being team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. So, if you're committed to advocating for students facing obstacles in their lives, please keep reading.
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) You'll be joining the Residential Well-being team; a department centered on creating intentional residential communities that are characterized by belonging, flourishing, compassion for self and others, and meaningful engagement.
2) You'll be reporting to the Managing Director for Residential Well-being and the Associate Dean of Students, Case Management Services, in a Regular twelve-month, 100% administrative professional appointment.
3) You'll work closely with the Managing Director, Dean's team, Housing Services, Cook Counseling Center, and other Residential Well-being and university partners to support coordinated care and advocacy for students facing obstacles in their lives.
4) You'll serve as a primary point of contact for identifying students who need support, including mental-health issues, relationship conflicts, social adjustment, financial needs, academic challenges, and family concerns, among others
5) You'll triage issues; provide referrals; coordinate and communicate with partners; ensure follow-up; and maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation.
6) You'll work closely with Care Team, Student Conduct, and the Office of the Office for Civil Rights Compliance & Prevention Education to coordinate care and elevate issues and concerns, as needed.
7) You'll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division.
8) You'll be offered a base compensation package between $48,000 - $50,000 along with an on-campus apartment or $54,000 - $56,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

The Residential Well-being office operates as a matrix organization, where coordinators have the opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplinary team that serves a district of approximately 2,000 students, as well as belonging to a team of fellow coordinators from other districts who work with an expert leader from the coordinating department.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree plus 2 years experience in a human services field or a Masters degree in social work, counseling, psychology or a related field.
Experience advising and/or providing advocacy for individuals and managing confidential and sensitive information with a high level of discretion.
Demonstrate a positive outlook and the ability to work through obstacles, solve problems, maintain calm, and think outside the box in situations with a high degree of ambiguity.
Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures through a student-centered lens and to identify and address institutional barriers.
Demonstrate a deep commitment to inclusive and diverse practices that recognize intersectionality and multiple identities in support of student well-being and development.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience advising and/or providing advocacy for students in a higher education environment
Knowledge of student-development theories and current issues college students face
Experience working with diverse populations of individuals in a complex, institutional setting.
