About the Position

Atlas School, LLC is looking for a Student Account Specialist. In this role, you would be responsible for administering and reconciling student tuition, scholarships, institutional and private payments, and providing day-to-day accounting support and audit assistance. This role manages tuition-related financial transactions and performs light accounting functions. You would assist Financial Services in preparing student contracts, notifying of payment due dates, and providing payment options, including—but not limited to—creating ledger cards, posting accounts receivable, reconciling data, and verifying addresses.

Salary: $18.00 / hour


Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, evaluate, and verify student data.
  • Preparation of student contracts
  • Notification of payment due dates
  • Prepare various financial program-related reports and correspondence.
  • Maintain alignment of internal documentation and processes with company and departmental operational standards.
  • Prepare refund calculations
  • Communicates clearly, effectively, and professionally through all communication channels with various offices and departments.
  • Provides accurate and timely student account information upon request.
  • Collects tuition payments according to the payment method selected.
  • Applies tuition payments in a timely manner - 24 hours from date of receipt to student accounts and prepares the deposit forms.
  • Post batches to students' accounts of all financial transactions
  • Follow up with students regarding delinquent accounts.
  • Review student adherence to eligibility requirements.
  • Assists with collections on delinquent accounts. This requires one-on-one counseling, telephone and email communication, and preparation/review of printed materials.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years' experience in accounts receivable (higher education experience preferred)
  • Proficient in Excel and Google applications
  • Strong listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify issues, investigate possible reasons/solutions, evaluate possible outcomes, and develop the most efficient and effective action plan for each situation.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Adhering to FERPA, incorporating confidentiality of information into every aspect of the job.
  • Sensitivity to the emotional nature of discussions related to finances.
  • Able to balance the requirements of federal, state, and institutional programs with concepts of customer service.
  • Most display a consistent attitude of customer service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in a related field
  • Exceptional time management skills, with an interest in efficiency and optimization.
  • Advanced critical thinking skills.
  • Prior experience in the Financial Aid/ Higher Education field
  • Knowledge of FERPA and Title IV programs

Working Conditions

The employee is regularly in a typical air-conditioned office environment with adequate lighting, moderate noise levels, and concrete and carpeted floors. There are no hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.


Physical Activities and Requirements of This Position

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle files, computers, and phones; reach with hands and arms; stoop, crouch, and kneel. Frequent, regular, repetitive movements are required of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

  • This is an on-site position based at 15 N Cheyenne Ave, Tulsa, OK 74103.
  • This is a part-time position (25 hours per week).
