Santander CIB has a comprehensive Debt Capital Markets platform. We seek solutions for our clients across different markets and currencies with proven capabilities in a wide variety of formats. We excel in DCM issuance across EUR, USD and GBP, with strong local syndicate presence and desks in New York, London, and Madrid.
The Difference You Make:
The Senior Vice President / Executive Director, Financial Institutions Debt Capital Markets (FIG DCM), is responsible for origination and execution of debt financing solutions for banks, insurance companies, asset managers, specialty finance companies, and other financial institution clients. Serving as a trusted advisor, the role provides strategic capital markets and funding advice while partnering across Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Syndicate, Sales & Trading, and Risk to deliver tailored financing solutions. The position is responsible for driving client relationships, transaction execution, and business growth across the FIG franchise.
Key Responsibilities
  • Originate, structure, and execute debt capital markets transactions for Financial Institutions Group (FIG) clients, banks, insurance companies, asset managers, specialty finance companies, fintechs, exchanges, and other regulated financial institutions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior client executives, including CFOs, Treasurers, Heads of Funding, and Capital Management teams, providing strategic advice on funding, capital optimization, liability management, and market execution.
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships while identifying financing opportunities across investment-grade, subordinated, senior unsecured, covered bond, securitized, and hybrid capital markets.
  • Advise clients on capital structure optimization, funding diversification, regulatory capital considerations, liquidity management, and balance sheet strategy in light of evolving market conditions and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the execution of public and private debt offerings, coordinating transaction teams across syndicate, sales & trading, legal, compliance, risk, ratings advisory, and investment banking coverage to ensure seamless execution.
  • Monitor global fixed income markets, interest rates, credit spreads, regulatory developments, investor demand, and peer issuance activity to provide timely market intelligence and strategic recommendations to clients.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations, market updates, and financing proposals, supporting strategic capital markets decisions.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree: in related field or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education - Required

Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience in Debt Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, or Fixed Income Capital Markets, with significant experience covering Financial Institutions.
  • Demonstrated expertise in originating and executing debt capital markets transactions for banks, insurance companies, asset managers, specialty finance companies, and other regulated financial institutions.
  • Deep knowledge of fixed income markets, funding strategies, capital structure advisory, liability management, and regulatory capital frameworks affecting financial institution issuers.
  • Proven ability to build and manage senior client relationships while delivering strategic financing and capital markets advice.
  • Strong leadership, business development, and transaction execution skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with sound commercial judgment and the ability to deliver innovative client solutions in a dynamic market environment.

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.

$310,000.00 USD
