Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Wisconsin State Fair Park (WSFP) is seeking friendly, customer service-oriented candidates to fill multiple Guest Services Assistant positions for the annual Wisconsin State Fair, IndyCar Weekend & Harvest Fair. The positionโ€™s core duties include providing excellent customer service to guests who visit the various Information Centers to ensure all patrons are adequately helped and provided answers to any questions. 
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
This position is an unclassified, seasonal Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system. This role will work in a full-time capacity over the 11-day annual Wisconsin State Fair, which includes weekends. There may be additional work hours offered before and/or after the annual fair. Annual hours worked in this position will not exceed 1039 hours.
COMPENSATION
The starting wage for this role will be $15.00 per hour.
 
WHO CAN APPLY

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Answer guest questions, giving directions and assisting whenever possible
  • Utilize the information tools provided to accurately assist guests
  • Hand out printed to collateral to those interested
  • Redeem Bargain Book vouchers
  • Keep info booths clean and organized for each shift

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent customer services skills to provide service with a smile
  • Fair knowledge and love of the Fair is a plus
  • Excellent oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, and other staff members
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, professionalism and maintain composure when responding to Fairgoers
  • Ability to take direction well and follow WSFP protocols and procedures
  • Proficiency with basic technology and point-of-sale tools, including the ability and willingness to learn and operate card-scanning devices to check ticket balances; demonstrates comfort following step-by-step procedures with training provided
  • Ability to work every day of the 11-day Wisconsin State Fair

SPECIAL NOTES
The candidate must be able to work all 11 days of the annual Wisconsin State Fair.  Prior to appointment to this position, the candidate may be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.
