Job description

Bright lights, midway rides and food for every taste is only a small part of what goes on at the Florida State Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds utilize volunteers in many different areas including before, during and after the Florida State Fair. Our next State Fair is scheduled for February 4 - 15, 2027. Although most of our volunteers spend most of their time volunteering during the Fair, we do have other volunteer opportunities year-round. And, since our volunteers tend to be outgoing and very friendly, we additionally organize the occasional social outing so we can stay in touch.

Each year, hundreds of volunteers contribute thousands of hours towards the success of the Fair. Volunteers ensure the smooth operation of a wide variety of Fairground activities.

Benefits of volunteering at the Florida State Fairgrounds include free admission to the Florida State Fair, additional admission tickets for friends and family, as well as discount coupons towards designated Fair food vendors (benefits are based on the number of volunteer hours completed). Florida State Fair pins are awarded for service and Volunteers will also receive an invitation to the annual Volunteer Thank You Banquet.

All volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation. Following completion of the Orientation Session, new volunteers will receive an exclusive Florida State Fair Volunteer T-Shirt to be worn during volunteer shifts.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. All volunteers are required to undergo an annual Background Check to ensure the safety and security of fairgoers and staff. Application deadline for the 2027 Florida State Fair Volunteer Program is no later than Tuesday, December 29, 2026.
