Job description

Staff DevOps Engineer

San Francisco, CA (Hybrid) | Full-Time

Weโ€™re partnering with a well-capitalized infrastructure technology company building the foundation for the next generation of transportation. This organization sits at the intersection of energy, logistics, and software, developing large-scale systems that support the rapid adoption of electric and autonomous vehicle fleets across the U.S.

With $1B+ in committed capital and a growing national footprint, the team is tackling complex, real-world challenges โ€” from distributed cloud systems to high-availability infrastructure powering physical operations.

Theyโ€™re looking for a Staff DevOps Engineer to help scale and evolve their cloud platform and developer infrastructure.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Lead the design and evolution of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Terraform) to support rapid growth
  • Build and maintain Kubernetes (EKS) environments and scalable deployment patterns (Helm)
  • Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) to enable reliable, self-service deployments
  • Drive observability initiatives using tools like OpenTelemetry and Grafana
  • Strengthen security and compliance practices through automation (SOC 2, monitoring, access controls)
  • Build internal tooling to improve developer experience and platform reliability
  • Support containerized development workflows across local and cloud environments
  • Design infrastructure for machine learning workloads, including training and deployment systems
  • Partner with data teams to scale data infrastructure (Databricks, Kafka, streaming systems)
  • Contribute to highly available, production-grade systems supporting real-world operations
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure system reliability
What You Bring
  • 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering
  • Strong background in AWS and Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Experience building and operating high-availability production systems
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar)
  • Familiarity with observability frameworks/tools (OpenTelemetry, Grafana, etc.)
  • Experience working with databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
Nice to Have
  • Experience with multi-region AWS infrastructure at scale
  • Exposure to Kafka, Databricks, or modern data platforms
  • Experience improving security and compliance through automation
  • Proficiency in Python or Node.js
Compensation
  • $204K โ€“ $233K base salary + bonus + comprehensive benefits
Why This Role
  • Work on mission-critical infrastructure tied to real-world systems (not just SaaS)
  • Be part of a company with significant funding and long-term backing
  • Help shape the future of sustainable transportation and logistics
  • Join a team operating at the intersection of software, energy, and physical infrastructure
