Job description

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Circuit Attorney at the level of Attorney III.

We are a fast-paced office devoted to a culture of excellence interested in someone with 2-4 years of trial experience capable of hitting the ground running with some supervision and training.

This is an excellent opportunity for mid- level attorneys who have a desire to serve the St. Louis community and enjoy trying cases.

Qualifications

Must be a current member of the Missouri Bar or eligible for licensure in the State of Missouri.

Duties

This position includes handling all aspects of cases involving moderately complex, low- level felonies, including some victim crimes, representing the people of the City of St. Louis, State of Missouri.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Investigation including review of evidence and official reports
  • Interviewing and deposing witnesses and victims
  • Making charging decisions and drafting charging documents
  • Performing legal research and writing memos
  • Conducting bond review and detention hearings
  • Conducting preliminary and grand jury hearings
  • Preparing and answering discovery
  • Drafting and arguing motions
  • Conducting bench and jury trials
  • Conducting probation revocations hearings
  • Frequent court appearances with the highest level of professionalism
  • Skillful management of case load
  • Provide legal guidance and instruction to junior attorneys
  • Participating in continued legal education as required by the Missouri Bar
